We’re starting this week off right, with a bold pink + black palette, stylish details + a pret-ty darling duo: Kara + Matt. For their fun, modern wedding, these two worked with Jamie at Sitting in a Tree to beautify the already rad setting at LA’s SmogShoppe, and focused on meaningful details that represented them. Kara says, I’m an environmentalist and I love everything nature and Matt’s an artist/designer, so we wanted to pull the outdoors in with the florals (which were amazing! we loved working with Megan from Honey & Poppies) and pull the design outside with the lounge areas. We picked SmogShoppe because it’s an eco-friendly venue and it has the flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces which was perfect. We’re both very into food and cocktails so we wanted to highlight locally farmed organic, really delicious food and drinks – Heirloom LA was flawless. We really wanted it to be a fun, happy and memorable event for us and our family and friends. We wrote our own vows with the intent of honoring our story and sharing it with our loved ones and a lot of our guests have told us it was the most authentic and sweet ceremony they’ve been to which means a lot to us.
Thanks so much to Whitney of Our Labor of Love for the super gorge images! Let’s take a peek…
Kara told us what we hear so many brides say: she didn’t want to take her dress off at the end of the night! She wore Vera Wang’s Eliza dress and said, I loved loved loved it!
This artful pink + black backdrop really set the right tone for an amazing ceremony!
Our vows. Because that's what it's all about, and we didn't share them beforehand so we were hearing the words for the first time and they were awesome.
Processional: Bridal Party: Sigur Ros – Untitled 4; Bride: Cat Power – Sea of Love
Recessional: Empire of the Sun - Alive
First Dance: How Deep is your Love – The Bird and the Bee
The stylish reception featured pieces from Borrowed Blu, Yeah! + Signature Party Rentals and Honey & Poppies‘ tropical-inspired blooms really made the setting feel special.
Make sure you (over)communicate with your vendors so you know what to expect on the day. Of course, things will go awry on the day (like leaving your sash at the hotel) and you'll have no control so you'll smile and carry on focusing on what really matters- you're getting married today! but good communication in the weeks before may avoid some of the big disappointments- like having a gigantic microphone between you and your groom during the most sentimental part of your big day! and in your ceremony photos forever...

Can I please have the link to the amazing black and floral bridesmaid dress?
My favourite colours all around, black and pink!
Love the alter. It really added a lot of depth to the ceremony photos.
