Modern Pennsylvania Barn Wedding: Kristen + George

bride and groom

We’ve all seen our fair share of barn weddings, but somehow they just never seem to get old! Even so, we completely love it when a couple pushes those standard “barn boundaries” and crafts a day that is not only super unique, but super them! Since Kristen is a talented artist (her company Rexmake specializes in graphic + event design) we’re not all that surprised that she came up with some amazing art installations for her own wedding day. She + George designed a setting where modern centerpieces, sleek ghost chairs, and touches of polished gold would play against the rustic Gettysburg barn where they held their reception. Such a fun juxtaposition. We just adore this one!

Big thanks to With Love & Embers for the beautiful photography + congrats to the newlyweds on beautiful day!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

After the ceremony, we were able to sneak away to take a few photos in the most beautiful field with our dog. Having that time together was so special to us so that we could just laugh a take a second to slow down and enjoy the day. For that brief time, it was just us.

Loving the cool paper leaf installation that Kristen made to hang from the barn’s rafters! Such a pretty, whimsical touch!

From Kristen + George, Music is what brought us together as a couple, so it was important to have great, live music playing throughout the day. From the beautiful strings that played during our ceremony to the most amazing band that set such a fun tone for our reception; we could not have asked for a better soundtrack to the day.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Stay true to yourselves. With countless opinions and endless wedding ideas being thrown your way, try to do what works for you as a couple even if it’s not on-trend or someone else’s idea of what a wedding should be. We spent the entire planning process reassuring people that what we were planning would work. When the day arrived, everything came together and all of the doubts people had about things like the barn and the band faded and everyone had a great time.
