Prepare yourself, cause you are not ready for the nonstop wedding inspo that’s about to come at you.
In January, some of the most talented minds in the wedding industry gathered at Luce in San Diego for the Modern Love Event and let their imaginations run absolutely wild! Designers and vendors teamed up to create edgy and inspired wedding tableaus full of epic floral installations, inventive cakes, delicious drinks, one-of-a-kind paper goods—you name it! There were disco balls. There were cocktail toppers. There were DRESSES (oh my god, the dresses).
This year FLOWERS were the true star of the show. So many of the event’s creatives opted to spotlight lush, fabulous florals in their designs.
So get ready to save photos and start filling up that Pinterest board. We’re taking you inside Modern Love 2023!!
LB Events Space

This GORGEOUS modern retro meets glam garden setup was coordinated by LB Events and captured beautifully by Sloane Photo. That jaw-dropping floral installation was created by The Flower Boy. We LOVE the metallic elements worked into the greenery.

Furniture rentals from Folklore are the perfect mix of sleek and vintage-inspired. We are so into the combo of earthy neutrals and springy pastels in this color palette.

The lacy, flowy whimsy of this dress from Ă Louise Bridal pairs beautifully with the overgrown garden element of the design.

Tabletop Rentals from Catalog Atelier and this circular menu from Wildhouse Ink keep things colorful yet simple. For this team it was all about balancing abundance and minimalism. About where wedding trends are headed in 2023 florist Jaz says: “I see a movement towards more minimalist tablescapes, petite personals, and refined color palettes. In contrast, I think statement installations will start taking a bigger role. I think rising prices are gearing people towards spending their money to make a big impact in a few areas, versus spreading it around to every corner of the venue. But, who knows!”

The team at LB Events says the shiny chrome elements of their vision as well as any 90s vibes were inspired by a 2022 ad for Good American Jeans that featured T-Boz and Chilli of TLC. They combined those elements with their interest in the growing garden trend and came to this one-of-a-kind design.

Those stunning geometric pillar candles are from Sculptos. We love how modern element like those are juxtaposed with the more organic vibes of the garden inspired florals. Also, how great are those simple ikebana centerpiece arrangements paired with the abundant floral installations?

A final thought fro the LB Events team: “I think wedding and events are works of art, design, and experiences that are brought to life and must be savored in the moment so they can be remembered forever. That’s really why I wanted to go big with this installation and do something that might not be expected but would definitely be memorable.”

This next setup from Chloe Alise Events + Design takes the abundant garden vibe in another direction and features lush and fabulous florals from Dogwood & Fir. Alexandria Monette Photography took all the stunning shots you’ll see.
This blooming tablescape combines structured centerpieces with loose greenery elements like vines and moss. Of the floral inspo for this space, Chloe of Chloe Alise Events + Design says: “Something about incorporating design into a setting that feels overgrown or natural, is something I love to do. Highlight what’s there, don’t take away from it. There’s also such a juxtaposition of well intentioned design in unintentional spaces, like an overgrown garden, that really felt like the way to go with this design.”

Rentals from Adore Folklore kept things bright and beautiful with the light wood table and rattan chairs.

We CANNOT get over this colorful cocktail topper!!

Catalog Atelier created this grounded yet whimsical place setting with linens and plates in earthy greens and browns alongside mismatched vintage flatware and floral etched glassware.

This centerpiece is giving us BUTTERFLIES. The inclusion of fruits and veggies adds to the feeling of abundance while table numbers from Wildhouse Ink keep things sweet and simple.

Gorgeous gowns by Christina Sfez bring delicate lace details and old-world elegance into this whimsical space. How much do you love those green velvet accents?

This lush floral crown gives this bride a fabulous fairy princess vibe.

This beautiful cape is perfect for wandering through the wildflowers.

There was even more floral extravagance in store in this setup by Jasper and Lane Events. Rustic details and textured textiles were paired with rich and drapey florals by A.H.R. Florals to create a dreamy garden party vibe. Alexandria Monette Photography captured all the magic.

We love the fanciful font on this sleek and geometric invitation suite.

The warm pops of color from these florals are so delicious alongside the whites, ivories, and earthy greens in the palette.

Even the ribbon on your bouquet can be a chance to embrace a unique pattern like this one!

Distressed white furniture from Folklore Rentals keeps things feeling aged yet airy.

These velvet curtains are bringing so much opulence!!

Loving these little orange votives from Sculptos and the way they invite even more warmth to this tablescape full of rich oranges and reds.

This sculptural work of art by Jenny Wenny Cakes reenacts the flow and fall of fabric while creating some prime spots for cake florals.

Stylish Details Events created this next space full of luxe, modern picnic vibes and untamable, organic floral installations from Levant Lane. Sloane Photo captured the vibe.

At first glance, this clever guest seating from Folklore Rentals looks like natural wood, but look again! It’s actually velvet in a gorgeous soft ochre!

Catalog Atelier created a tablescape full of fun juxtapositions: rough marble table numbers and breezy cotton linens, antique-inspired gold flatware and modern glassware, earthy neutrals and pops of bright color.

These edgy, modern pillar candles from Sculptos are balanced with organic elements like fresh grapes and limes.

The elegant picnic vibes of these linen gingham napkins is ochre from BBJ La Tavola play beautifully against the modern navy blue typeface menus from Velvet Fox Designs. And don’t miss that custom cocktail topper!! Such a fun way to customize your wedding’s drink selection.

The gorgeous cakes in this shoot are by Peggy Liao Cake. This abstract gold floral work takes this brown two-tiered cake to another level!!

Don’t miss that lavender beauty there!! We love the way its construction embraces a modern silhouette and subverts the idea that a tiered cake has to have its biggest layer at the base.

And the feathery detail work on this white cake is so fun and unexpected!!

Wildhouse Ink Space

Wildhouse Ink, the minds behind many of the paper goods featured at Modern Love this year, had their own showcase space as well and they filled it with their contemporary, ethereal vision. The boho florals from Sparks & Sand Floral Design were full of pampas grass and pops of tangerine and got some retro sparkle from the disco balls embedded into each arrangement.

Alexandria Monette Photography captured this abstract geometric custom build from all the right angles.
We are loving this curvy surrealist archway finished off with the most romantic text. What an amazing reception statement piece or ceremony backdrop (or both!).

That unique mod shelving unit!! Perfect for displaying a gorgeous cake OR used as an inventive reception seating chart!

SO into these pale pink disco balls as a way to add more color to something that’s already so fun!

This year’s event has so many sensational examples of bright oranges warming up neutral palettes with supercharged splashes of color and this gorgeous tangerine cake by Hey There, Cupcake! is no exception.
The Dress Theory Space

OKAY. IT’S DRESS TIME. Alexandria Monette Photography took all the stunning pictures you’re about to see of The Dress Theory‘s show stopping wedding gowns. And those gorgeous florals? Those are the stunning work of Florae By Alana.

Off-the-shoulder. Thigh-high slit. Pearl details. SO much to love about this sleek, modern gown.

This sheer beaded stunner is giving off contemporary flapper energy.

The capes!! The sleeves!! The beaded back detail!!

This sculpted off-the-shoulder number embraces an elegantly slouchy silhouette.

How breathtaking is that open back with the dangling beaded accents?!

Perfect poofy sleeves are optional. And it has POCKETS.

Cheers to looking fabulous!! (And to these killer two piece and floral gowns!)
