Cinco de Mayo may have passed, but the vibrant, bold vibes don’t have to end just yet. The team behind today’s editorial combined their love for spring with their love for Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo and the results are just so good! They really wanted to embrace the changing season with color and local florals + we’re loving the way they incorporated those elements!
Love Lit Wedding Photography planned, designed and photographed the shoot, working with florist Kailla Platt who created that super rad backdrop affixing fresh flowers to a pre-hemmed cotton sheet which she splattered with acrylic paint. Trust us, there’s so much eye candy to fall in love with, so we might as well let these gorgy photos do the talkin’…
Frida Kahlo’s bold and unique style set the bar for the team. They weren’t afraid to go for the unexpected – like that For Love and Lemons from Free People – to channel their muse in a really fun way!
Water was poured over the acrylic paint to create the watercolor effect on the backdrop. Once the sheet was dry, the flowers were attached with floral glue.
We thought it’d be fun to pull together a round-up of Frida inspired apparel + accessories that you (or your bridesmaids!) could rock on the big day. Bonus: these finds are also perfect for parties, events, or everyday!

We love the ‘go bold or go home’ attitude of this shoot! Hope you all love it, too!

Great piece. Frida is my idol! I recently came across a beautiful video music that pays homage to her life. If you love Frida, you will love this… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaSF5dpJqew Enjoy and remember, “Nothing is worth more than laughter. It is strength to laugh and to abandon oneself, to be light. Tragedy is the most ridiculous thing.” – FK
