Modern. Cool. And Fun. If you had to pick three words to describe Jess + Evan’s wedding, those would be them. Held at the Oxford Exchange in Tampa, Florida, the place was perfect with its rich color accents, leather couches, white walls, coffee shop, and overall modern feeling!
Jess shares The overall inspiration for the day was just ‘fun’. We had been dating over seven years by the time we got married and a lot of what makes us ‘us’ is being unapologetically ourselves and never taking anything too seriously. That’s part of what makes our life fun together and we wanted to approach our wedding the same way. So as ideas and decisions came up, we asked ourselves “is this something we think is awesome? Or is this something we would be doing because we feel like we’re supposed to?” Anything we answered with the former we incorporated into the day; anything we answered with the latter got ditched.
With that in mind, J+E chose vendors they SERIOUSLY loved — having Two Cents Photo + Film, along with Siren Floral Co. + and Lace and Likes fly in from California. Ready to see all the fun, captured by W&E Photographie?
Modern, simple, and oh so STUNNING. Jessica’s gown is by Karen Willis Holmes.
The ceremony in its entirety is a big one — essentially, we wrote all of it incorporating some favorite readings from John Steinbeck and Robin Williams (as Sean Maguire in Good Will Hunting) and then also wrote our own vows.
It made the ceremony really personal and engaging for everyone to listen to. We also did a first look in the same room I was getting ready in and nobody thought to change the Spotify station we had on beforehand. Pretty soon into the first look, we realized the moment was being commemorated by “Hot in Herre” by Nelly…
The grey brick. The bouquet. Their expressions. THEM. So, so cute!
HOLY SMOKES. The staircase was already elegant, but Siren Floral Co. worked their insane magic… And well, just LOOK!
It comes as no surprise that this elegant + modern invitation suite is by the ever-lovely + talented Vera Wang.
YES, YES, YES to taking Polaroid photos, in addition to having a professional photographer at the wedding!
Jessica shares Having my brother, Andy, be my “Bro-maid/Man of Honor” is one of my favorite and most memorable aspects of the day. While we were waiting for our guests to be seated and everyone in the processional to walk out, it was just him and me hanging out in the room with him giving me some last minute brotherly advice. When I walked down the aisle, I only remember seeing Evan at the end of it, but just briefly when I got to the end I looked over at Andy and he said, “Don’t be nervous.” Just like that, I wasn’t anymore.
Processional: Walkaway by Thomas Newman, performed by a string trio
Recessional: Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn, performed by a string trio
First Dance: I Keep Faith by Billy Bragg, performed by Jessica's brother
How fun is this idea for table numbers + escort cards?!
Hello insanely beautiful room!! We’re LOVING all the floral pops, especially in contrast to the stark black and white.
We’re *ALL EYES* for that centerpiece by Siren Floral Co..
How gorgeous is this menu, set on the marble paper?
Love this bar sign featuring lyrics from “Blame It” by Jamie Foxx!
Don't do anything just because you think you have to. There were a lot of things that people wanted us to do that we opted against (which made some people unhappy on the front end), but after all was said and done, those same people came back to us to say 'Your wedding was so perfectly you guys. Everything had meaning and everything was important.’ This, we felt, was 100% the result of making sure we only did/incorporated the things that we felt represented us.
Pick vendors that you love — both personally and professionally. This one could be hard and maybe we just got lucky, but it's kind of a big deal. We picked vendors that we could look at and say 'no matter what these people do on our wedding day, we know we're going to love it.’
What a stunning cake by Chocolate Pi!
