New York City is already known for its effortlessly cool and urban style, but there’s something about Brooklyn that we can’t quite put our finger on that’s seriously HIP. Heading to the streets around their local neighborhood, photographer Kate Edwards wanted to capture that taste of color + edginess which makes the area so unique, with the help of event designer, A Taylored Affair.
She tells us: I always walk around thinking how great it would be to have a small intimate ceremony in a public space, or a local/intimate reception at a new and sought out restaurant. We’ve seen several NYC weddings take place in quaint cafés (another cool way to incorporate something special into your big day—a place you two frequent!), and they’re always filled with so much charm…and of course, good food!
So, for those wanting to keep things minimal and hip, while paying homage to Brooklyn (or whatever neighborhood is home for you), let’s go for a tour!
The Florals
Playing up moody fall hues, HellaBloom crafted this bouquet brimming with dahlias + a ton of textured pops.
The Outfits
The sleeves on her dress + the color of his suit…so darn cool!
Tip: Find a wall—be it white brick, regular brick, a painted masterpiece, or something like this that plays with the hues of your palette. You’ve got a backdrop!
Plus, that means you don’t have to worry about photobombs and waiting for people to walk by before you take the shot. (Though photos taken with the chaos of people behind you while you two are standing still can be really cool!)
For the hip + dapper gent that wants to rock a burgundy suit, this one is from Zara!
Kickin’ It at a Café
As for the absolutely stunning embroidered dress with the sweetest sleeves we’ve ever seen? It’s the ‘Leigh’ by Alexandra Grecco.
The Dreamy Tablescape
How darling are these minimal escort cards done by Deanna First?
Hello, fall! We love how the warm + rich color palette offsets the clean and bright interior of Otway.
Greenery galore!
Oh, and the wine totally picks up the plum colors…too perfect, right?
Cheers to that! Would you get married in your favorite restaurant/café?
