Nikkayla works in advertising + Justin works in design, so naturally, the two gravitate toward clean aesthetics and eye-catching details. When they got engaged in Cabo, they traveled to Hotel San Cristobal in Todos Santos the day after. After checking in and drinking a few mezcal margs, they talked about how it would be the most incredible wedding weekend spot… So, they set up a meeting with the coordinator that day!
Everything about their design scheme was inspired by the location: from the invites to the colors to the table settings! Nikkayla shares: in addition to the location, our inspiration stemmed from our love of travel, gradient sunsets, and well-crafted poolside cocktails (now that’s something we can get behind!).
Let’s take a peek at all the magic in Mexico, that By Amy Lynn Photography captured!
The Details
Because the interior of Hotel San Cristobol is so modern + cool with bright pops, all of the details for the day were fairly streamlined + modern, too. Take, for example, these darling kicks!
Um, talk about DREAM lounge! Who else would like to hang out here for a spell?
The Outfits
All the bridesmaids donned darling getting ready rompers in this adorable tropical print. Want to snag a similar style? Here are a few of our faves:
For their dresses, it was all about neutral hues from Show Me Your Mumu!
How slick do these gents look?! Justin’s suit + tie are from Paul Smith.
The First Look
Who else tears up when they see a first look?! All the emotion!!
Diggin’ how the Baja Botanica bouquet is complemented by Justin’s tropical tie.
The Wedding Party
Don’t all those neutral hues look INCREDIBLE together?! Especially with the colorful pops from the florals!
The Ceremony Space
Okay, so we already knew we adored the property… with all the white walls and cactus about, but this ROOM! Modern, minimalistic, and oh-so cool!
Processional: Measure of a Man by Jus Post Bellum
Recessional: I Love U Pt. 1 by Panthurr
First Dance: Sweet Thing by Van Morrison
The Newlyweds
And they were able to incorporate their darling pup for a few photos!
The way we made it about us was again a product of the location. We knew it would take a bit of effort, but we’re huge advocates of travel and experience, and we knew we had to share Todos Santos with our family and friends. My grandma told me on the day she arrived, “This place is something someone must have dreamt of. It’s magic.” So, my advice is to find a venue that encompasses who you are as a couple, and the rest will fall into place.
Make a playlist that has all your must play songs, and then listen to it after the wedding to recount all the amazing memories throughout the night. You’ll be surprised how many moments pop into your head that you haven’t thought of yet. We catch one another smiling, crying and laughing every time we hear our songs.
Oh, and we cannot suggest enough throwing a welcome party. It removed so much of the stress previous brides and grooms had told us about and all our guests already knew one another so it made the dance party that much better!
The Tablescape + Rockin’ Reception
String lights festooned from palm trees, modern gold + glass lanterns lining the tables, and a touch of beach chic with all the chairs… this is paradise, don’t you think?
They definitely complemented the surrounding area with this tablescape; it was luxe and refined, while still coastal and cool.
The CUTEST!!
As I’m sure any couple can attest, there are countless special moments that make the day so memorable. But I think we would both agree our first dance was the closest thing to a fairytale we could imagine. Having the song we played on our first date playing while all of our friends and family surrounded us holding sparklers... was a dream.
Like MAGIC. Congratulations, N+J!!
