Today we’re sharing a wedding, captured by Tyler Branch, that’s as unique and beautiful as can be. Smack dab in the middle of busy Los Angeles, you’ll find Lombardi House, a modern barn venue with an intimate feel. Nikki + Ryan are both creative + have amazing style, so coming up with ideas for decorating the space with their planner/stylist, Meghan, of Green Apple Event Co. + floral designer, Megan, of Honey & Poppies was a fun challenge for them. They decided to complement the already gorgeous architecture with gold + black details, an abundance of fluffy pampas grass, and a totally relaxed, bohemian vibe.
Nikki + Ryan say, It’s funny because when you get engaged you start to get advice from everyone, friends and especially family. We knew what we wanted from the start. So we tried to take everyone’s advice, but we made sure we made it about ourselves as well. We really wanted to make it very relaxed with a fresh feel. One of our florists called it “Marie Antoinette goes modern.” We also didn’t want to be confined to a specific color, so we just let it organically happen, which made the whole process fun to see come to fruition. That is why you can see a wide range of earthy colors, with green, natural white and brown tones.
We promise we weren’t going to glaze over Nikki’s EPIC wedding dress by Hayley Paige. With a subtle shade of lavender, but no-so-subtle layers of tulle, it’s one of the most amazing dresses we’ve ever seen!
The bridesmaids donned such gorgeous shades of gold, silver + pink! Shop some of our fave finds with a similar feel below:
Nikki: One of my good friends Mandy gave me this advice: OPT OUT of the first look, and when you start at the end of aisle make sure that you look just at your husband. Everyone else will be smiling and looking at you, trying to wave hi, but don't lose eye contact, and when I did see him for the first time, it was pretty magical. I felt like the only two people there.
Ryan: There was a moment as she was reciting her Vows to me, that I felt as if it was just the two of us and the thought that all my life I had waited for this moment and I couldn’t have imagined it better than that.
Processional: Crazy Love (Acoustic Performance by Tini Grey)
Recessional: Love Never Felt So Good – Justin Timberlake + Michael Jackson
First Dance: Make You Feel My Love (Acoustic Performance by Tini Grey)
The reception was held inside the barn + featured long communal dining tables, more pampas (because we’re beginning to think you can never have enough!) and gorgeous tableware from Borrowed Blu.
First: Get on the same page with each other, know what you both want, and know what each person will NOT have and DEFINITE must have. Exercise compromising. Make sure to include the both of you, don't forget it's both of your's wedding day, not just one person. I say this because my husbands an Art Director for a magazine, so he had A LOT of input about colors and the overall look of the wedding.
Second, hire a fantastic Wedding Planner. We had so many ideas together, Meghan really helped us narrow them down and bring the right kind of vendors to make our ideas come to life. She made our wedding day run smoothly. All of our guests and Bridesmaids kept asking me why I didn't look stressed, and she was the reason why.
Lastly, don't forget that it is a celebration of the love that you have for one another. Your family and friends are there to celebrate the both of you! A lot of brides get caught up in the details, don't let little things bring you down. Enjoy the first dance, the dance with your parents, the small toasts with the groups of friends. Thats where the good stuff is.
