We can’t even say a word about Jessica + Marty’s wedding until we know you’ve taken a sec to fully delight in that STUNNING gold-detailed Claire Pettibone dress! A total show-stopper, don’t you think?! While we’ll freely admit it’s the first thing about this wedding that caught our eye, it’s definitely not the only epic aspect from this romantic celebration photographed by Amanda McKinnon and held at Hummingbird Nest Ranch in California. The bride and Kristeen LaBrot worked side-by-side to make sure all the details (great + small) came to life in the most perfect way. Jess rode in on a white horse with gold glitter hooves, the flower girls had angel wings, and the magical ceremony featured the longest aisle runner rug we’ve ever seen! The way I describe my vision for the wedding is “Gypsy Fairytale”. I wanted it to be romantic and ethereal, but also very comfortable and bohemian – I actually didn’t wear shoes for our ceremony and most of the evening – I felt like a barefoot princess! We made a point to include lots of details from our backgrounds, such as our Scottish ancestry. Not only did our fathers both wear kilts in their respective clan tartans – we included a hand fasting ritual as part of our ceremony, in which our hands were literally bound to one another’s with a sash of Marty’s clan tartan.
We are just so crazy about this dress!!
Our Favorite Memory
Aside from the most important part when we became husband and wife -- it was pretty big show stopper when I rode up to the ceremony on a beautiful white horse with golden hooves. The look of surprise on Marty's face was priceless! It was also a really special way for me to honor my mother Cindy, who is no longer with us – she was an avid horse lover and breeder of Arabian horses.
Our Musical Choices
Jessica’s bouquet by Pixie’s Petals was another magical touch. In fact, all of the ethereal florals fit in perfectly with the day’s fairytale vibe.
We’re crushing on the reception’s berry + gold palette – and all the Midsummer’s Night Dream inspired design elements!
Our Advice
We tried to make sure to prioritize the things that were most important to us as a couple, and as individuals – and make sure those things were part of our special day. Also, remember that as long as you have a bride, groom, officiant and a couple of rings – you're going to end up married to the one you love at the end of the day!
