What happens when you combine all the best parts of the dreamiest medieval-set, sweeping epic, utterly romantic film, television, and book references into one wedding? Let’s just say — you’re about to find out! It’s romance and mystery minus the heartache and slow-moving scenes. It’s whimsical fashion and a setting that looks as if it were plucked from a fairy tale. And for Lauren + Jeremy, it was exactly what they had in mind for their wedding day.
“Our theme was a medieval feast — but romantic. Lord of the Rings meets Game of Thrones meets Romeo and Juliet. We wanted a moody and intimate dinner party with great music and a candlelit, romantic environment that allowed guests to explore the grounds with a sense of mystery. My dress was the glue that tied our theme together. I absolutely loved it and so did our guests!”
The day took place at the historic The Grove Redfield Estate in Glenview, Illinois. Picked for its stunning flora and fauna, beautiful statues, and bubbling fountains, it wasn’t hard to get swept away in the romance of it all. With planning by Lionhearted Events and stunning photos by Iron + Honey Photography, everything came together in perfect detail. Let’s take a peek!
Invitation for Lovers
The invitation by Maison Blanche is enough to make you weep! The romantic imagery and attention to detail — it’s a good indication for the stunning day to come!
Your first look…isn’t she a vision?!
Medusa makes an appearance, leaning into the mystery of it all.
The Bride Wore Florals + Pinks
Lauren said that her dress drove home the theme of the day and she’s absolutely right! “Valencia” by Monique Lhuillier led the way with an ivory and blush floral print, off-the-shoulder puffy sleeves, and cathedral train. A simple tulle veil and golden leaf headpiece completed the look.
Oko Salon brilliantly weaved stands of curls together for a classically romantic look. We rounded up our favorite bridal crowns that fit swimmingly into this vibe!
The First Look
We can only imagine what he’s thinking! What a moment!
The Bridal Party
Loving the perfect detail of Lauren’s Studio Poppy bouquet matching her plum lip by Bridal By Aga!
The bridesmaids wore a mix of Dessy, Jenny Yoo, and Amsale dresses in pinks and burgundies. Loving this lineup — here are some more of our favorite places to find bridesmaid dresses!
Meanwhile, the men showed up looking very dark-academia aesthetic and we’re all for it.
Ceremony for the Ages
So beautiful!
Yay!
The Newlyweds
They. Are. Perfection.
The Romantic Reception
Our favorite part of the day was listening to the string quartet while our friends and family got to know one another and played cornhole in the sunshine. We also both loved being in the reception space and hearing the heartfelt toasts from our close friends and family.
How stunning is this seating chart!! With the right frame, it could be a perfect DIY detail to re-create!
Chicago Vintage Weddings and Tablescapes worked together to formalize the tables and reception design. It came together perfectly!
It’s the grapes and pomegranates on the table for us.
A Floral Wedding Cake
And the final detail, a gorgeous three-tier floral cake by Flourish Cake Design.
Slow down and soak in every moment, take pictures, and express gratitude to family and friends. It takes a village.
What a magical day! Congrats to Lauren + Jeremy!
