It’s hard to beat the magic of a New Year’s Eve wedding. Weddings are amazing. NYE is amazing. So, combine the two and good things are sure to transpire. But although we think even the most pared-down NYE wedding would probably be a total blast, we were so impressed with the majorly gorge scene Pow Wow planned, designed + installed for Crystal + Jason. Gold foiled fringe and all things glam have truly never (ever!) looked better! But since we know a wedding is so much more than a good design plan, let’s hear some thoughts about the day from the lovely bride:
Our inspiration for the evening was less focused on planning the perfect wedding and centered more on throwing a truly amazing celebration! We selected New Year’s Eve as our date knowing that guests would arrive ready to enjoy an evening filled with love, laughter, dinner, dancing, cocktails and confetti. We were able to make the wedding about the two of us, because we decided early on that this event should feel like us. That one decision allowed us our own sort of filter, of which we ran our options through. We would ask ourselves, “Is this for us? Or to make someone else happy?” In the end, we made a few compromises to assure that family felt their voices were honored. But truly, 99.9% of the wedding was exactly as we wanted it to be. And it was magical! A dream!
Big thanks to Anika London for these super fun photos and congrats to C + J on the most perfect wedding! You two definitely started 2015 off right!
For Jason, the most memorable moment of the wedding was the moment he saw his Bride, Crystal. Crystal is well-known for throwing beautiful and thoughtful parties for others. So seeing her face taking in the room that was created for her, the guests that showed up for us and then our eyes catching - it was a moment that was along time coming and that I'll never forget.
For Crystal, the most memorable moment was similar. I completely left the set up of the venue in the beyond capable hands of Pow Wow and Siren Floral Co. Although we had met for design meetings previously, I really only asked for overviews of what they were doing. That meant, the moment I stepped in, to walk down the aisle, was the first time I was seeing how the entire vision came together. From outside, I could merely see the glow of the gold foiled fringe - but the rest added so much more. To top it off, at the end of the aisle was the man I was going to marry. It was spectacular.
Processional: Wedding Party: Best Day Of My Life – American Authors; Bride: Can't Help Falling In Love – Twenty One Pilots
Recessional: You Make My Dreams Come True – Hall & Oates
First Dance: How Deep Is Your Love – The Bee Gees
We could never decide which we love more: Crystal’s sparkly dress by Camille La Vie or that insane amaranthus bouquet by Siren Floral Co.! Both are such amazing elements, right?
Black and gold, with pops of berry, was a palette perfect for 12.31, but so worth using anytime of the year!
Oh so many pieces of advice… First and foremost, choose the right Vendors. They are there to make the event run smoothly from beginning to end. I can usually be a control freak, but in this case, we paid a little extra for extremely talented people and more to the point, for piece of mind. It was worth every penny. Also, remember that this is yours to do your way. Make it look and feel like you and your Groom. The guests will notice it, feel it and love it.

I love this wedding! Really elegant
Simply beautiful. I have been wanting to shoot a NYE weeding for years!
So beautiful and elegant but still very simple. That’s the type of wedding I hope to have someday.
Holy cow. The visual elements of this wedding are stunning! Really incredible!
The photo booth looks adorable! I definitely want to include a photo booth at my reception but I’m not sure which route to go yet.
