An epic love deserves an epic celebration — a celebration to rule them all, you could say! So, Courtney + Garrett decided to honor their journey to that momentous ring exchange with a themed wedding straight out of a fantasy. They called on a fellowship of artists to bring the dream to life, including their wise and fearless leader Julie Miner Events. Julie took on the role of event designer, planner, florist, and most importantly, mother-of-the-bride!
Courtney + Garrett gave us some insight into the inspiration behind their dreamy day: We chose a The Lord of the Rings theme because we felt that Tolkien’s magical world perfectly encapsulated the magic of officially joining your life with someone else’s and creating a bonded fellowship! We loved the shared themes and motifs regarding adventure — with the utmost importance placed on one ring to rule them all!
Harmony Lynn Photography captured all the details as the adventure unfolded! Let’s have a look:
Could you imagine how fun it would be to open those wax seals? They were a DIY by the couple and Harmony, their photographer!

How utterly stunning is this fairy-tale braid by Moments Metro Salon?!
The First Look
Our most memorable moment was the first look. It was nice to have a moment to ourselves where we could spend time together without the pressure of an audience. It was the first moment where we were both like “Wow, this is real. I really get to marry my best friend.”
So darling! And those ring/hoop bouquets are the cutest!
A Magical Love
C + G were primarily influenced by the elves with their elegance, beauty, and connection with nature.
The theme was found most prominently in unique details throughout the design. To top it off, Courtney + Garrett’s custom crowns really elevated the motif!
A Fellowship that Won’t Be Broken
The couple incorporated several nontraditional elements that were personal them, including a hand-fasting ceremony with personalized vows.
Quest complete: they got the rings!
Aren’t they just radiant?
We’re kinda loving the groom in a crown!
Straight out of a fairy tale.
A Whimsical Reception
Julie Miner Events created tree-like floral centerpieces to bring that wooded whimsy inside.
To further implement the magical theme, C + G named their signature drinks to represent favorite characters from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings!
The mossy styled cake from Creative Cakes By Dawn was the sweetest finish!
Courtney: Do not underestimate the power of a great planner. There are so many things that go into weddings that it is easy to get lost or overwhelmed. Having someone there beside you every step of the way, someone who shares your vision and has the capability of making it happen is a huge relief.
Garrett: Also, do not sweat the small stuff. Sometimes the small details are not worth stressing over. Remember that at the end of the day the most important thing is the two of you.
Both: Don’t be afraid to get a little weird! Do your wedding the way you want, and worry less about other people’s opinions and expectations. It’s your day!
Sending all our congrats to Courtney + Garrett — excited for your new adventure ahead!
