It certainly isn’t every day that a wedding takes place in a public park! Lex + Andy’s wedding was surrounded by people having picnics, walking their dogs, and waving to the bride as she walked down the aisle!! Lex + Andy have worked in the wedding industry for many years and realized that they didn’t need to follow any formulas for a ‘good wedding day’. They just did what they loved, and the rest followed suit!
The bride, Lex Hamilton, shares that being a florist herself, she was keen to flower and style the event. “It was SO FUN to create something that I loved rather than what a client wanted. I kept my flowers very simple. A hydrangea only ceremony and dahlia only reception. Two of my favorite flowers in September so why not just have LOTS of them!”
How rare is it that the florals, planning, and event design are done entirely by the bride! That’s impressive! Beatrici Photography was onsite all day snapping these gorgeous shots you’re about to see here… Let’s get into it!
A Wedding in the Park
The bride’s gorgeous floral gown is by Jurgita Bridal, and perfectly ties in her role as bride and florist for her special day!
In addition to his neutral-colored suit by Oliver Spencer, Andy of course wore his Birkenstocks. Lex shares: It wouldn’t be Andy if he didn’t have Birkenstocks on. We love to see it!! :)
Myatt’s Fields Park is a magical oasis in the middle of South London. All events hosted in the park generate profit for the community including lots of incredible activities. The ceremony was hosted at the Bandstand and the dinner was in the quiet garden.
Andy and Lex met on Tinder almost eight years ago. The start of Lex’s vows sums it up quite well…
‘On our first date, you asked me if I wanted children, text me ten minutes after you left, and asked if I wanted to meet your parents a few weeks later. The start couldn’t have summed up the rest more perfectly.’ …We’re not crying YOU are crying!!!
The Park Side Ceremony
The couple’s ceremony and dinner were held in Myatt’s Fields Park in Southwark. Then moved to Whirled Cinema in Loughborough Junction for good music and band dancing… which we will get into later!!
Abba tribute by my Bridetribe halfway through Andy’s speech.
Waving to everyone enjoying sometime in the park
Butterfly landing on Andy’s shoulder for about 10 minutes during the ceremony. (My late Dad coming to say hello)
Getting changed from my wedding dress into my short pink suit in the middle of the park.
Our ceremony was so personal and touching. Honestly incredible. Thank you so much @bens.house
The couple got legally married on December 14, 2020, mid lockdown when Lex was eight months pregnant. The couple shares how special it was having their daughter with them for the special day!
“Having postponed our wedding 10000000 times, we didn’t think we would ever make it BUT WE DID. The whole day was totally magical from the sun that shone on a full rain forecasted day, to the butterfly who landed and stayed on Andy’s shoulder in the ceremony, to the speeches that had the whole wedding in tears to the crazy dancing to jazz classics in a rundown railway arch in Loughborough Junction.”
This Bridal Party Looks Pretty in Pink!
Lex’s amazing bride tribe wore bright pink suits paired with single stem white bouquets of their favorite flowers. The bride shared that it felt simple, easy, and relaxed. …Not to mention so stunning!!
Looking good gentlemen! We love the monochromatic suit moment!
A Lovely Mismatched Reception
For the reception, the couple had a mismatch of gingham and striped tablecloths. They collected hundreds of different candlesticks and vases and wanted dinner to feel informal and intimate like you had popped over to their garden in South London for dinner!
Their beautiful, personalized stationary by Maple & Rae really made all the difference to the tables.
It is ONLY fair we talk about this show stopping floral cake from Hannah Bakes! The intricate floral design and color combinations of pink red and orange are truly beautiful!!
“We had a gospel choir in the park for our ceremony. Watching them on the bandstand was magical. Later in the evening, we had a Jazz band which was incredible and really matched the venue.”
Do things you like, get married in a place you love with the people you love, and the rest really doesn’t matter.
We absolutely love this outfit change!
Thank you to L + A for sharing your very special day with us! We hope you share memories together that will last a lifetime and continue to have as much fun in life as you did here on your wedding day!! Cheers to all the years to come!
