A campground wedding with happy, yellow bridesmaids dresses, a drizzly ceremony, lawn games, greenery-adorned tents, and the cutest couple ever seemed like a perfect way to start the day! Kate + Liam are pretty much as laidback as it gets, so it was a must for their wedding to reflect their sweet, easygoing attitudes. A picturesque campground in the small village of Matakana, New Zealand was the perfect locale and natural design elements (with a hint of modern typography + signage) felt just right as far as styling was concerned. In the end, the most important thing to this duo was to spend a relaxed weekend away with a handful of their favorite folks. And they pulled that off like a couple of pros!
From Kate, We are both pretty down to earth people who wanted to spend our wedding over a full weekend with our friends and family. We wanted it to also reflect where we came from. We always wanted to be outside away from any city with the ones we loved so the theme slowly became a camping / wilderness type event.

A little light rain couldn’t stop any of the fun. And we adore this shot of all the guests with their colorful umbrellas!
Kate walked down the aisle to Lovely Day by Bill Wither, played live by the band.
Light rain fell during ceremony (outside) and then stopped just after the vows and we walked away from the alter into the sunshine and the band played a harmony/folk song cover of pony by ginuwine, (unplanned) very nice moment.
Cutest ‘maids ever! We love their yellow frocks paired with sweet braided ‘dos!
What a pretty tent, right? Wire baskets filled with eucalyptus + other local greens is the perfect idea for an easy centerpiece!

Start planning early but always be flexible on the day, a lot of things changed through the ceremony and we just rolled with it, we tried to keep it up beat and enjoyable for the guests through out the weekend.

I love the simplicity and green-ness of this wedding. It looks relaxed, informal and therefore SO much fun. I especially love the leaf umbrella, it’s all about detail!

Kate, i would like to know more on the location of your wedding. I myself am looking for an outdoor forest feel. Is this private land or a Matakana bush reserve? I realise its been a while sonce your wedding but its amazing!
