It Was All About Luxurious Neutrals for this Moroccan-Inspired Editorial in Greece

Moroccan Wedding Inspiration

Over the past few years, you’ve probably spied gorgeous Moroccan wedding blankets on Instagram and past editorials. You know, the ones with the cream + taupe shaggy fringe and the silvery sequins? Otherwise known as handira, these blankets are a window into the traditional Berber culture of Morocco. I’m sure you’ve already guessed this, but these blankets are crafted in anticipation of a wedding as a sort of send-off present. It comes as no surprise that their aesthetic appeal has been woven in to many bohemian + luxurious designs.

Utilizing these Moroccan wedding blankets as a neutral, yet glamorous jumping off point, The Twelve Events teamed up with photographer Greg Finck to bring this elegantly charming editorial to the Athens Riviera. Creating truly heart-thumping imagery, the team danced around Island Athens Riviera and all its scenic + sun-soaked beauty.

Ready to see a dreamy vision, brought to fruition? Let’s wander!

Wabara garden roses in blush, creamy peach and ivory were used in abundance.

Fun Fact: Wabara is a concept that comes from Japan, and translates to, “the harmony rose,” which was exactly what The Twelve Events sought to create with the florals.

Oh my goodness — a lil’ golden-doodle!

Oh, and that messy up-do by Frantzeska + natural makeup by Katerina Theocharis? Definitely pinning that for later!

For the groom, it was all about offsetting the neutral tones with a touch of checkered black. This brilliant suit came from It’s a Man’s Class.

The Luxurious Tablescape

The Twelve Events shares: To create a unique private dining space, we sourced specialty pieces from Sher MakeshStylebox — like a remarkable Rococo Statuary antique chimneypiece, with richly and intricately carved floral and rocaille decoration, as well as an imposing screen cartouche bordered by both subtle and high relief floral design.

Tone on tone decoration, a creamy palette and old world elements were the foundation for the tablescape. How stunning are those plates from White Lilac?!

We’re particularly fond of all the dusty pink accents against the creamy neutral tones.

So, so stunning. We’d be remiss not to mention those elegant heels by Vassilis Zoulias, a Greek designer who is known for combining haute couture with old-school designs.

The subtle backdrops of the Athens Riviera are giving us major honeymoon vibes! And aren’t those Moroccan blankets simply beautiful?!

When researching more about them, we learned that in the months leading up to a wedding, women would bond by creating these blankets together — a time for a mother and other ladies of the village to share stories and well wishes for the bride-to-be.
