Are you all about color? Do you love things with major pizzazz and a dash of eclectic design? Chelsea and Karl are extremely vibrant people and love to let their imaginations run wild. They frequent EDM shows, not only as enthusiasts, but as part of the creative community–Chelsea is a dancer + Karl helps with production. They love being involved with Burning Man, so it’s no surprise that their designer, Bloom & Blueprint, helped them incorporate some of the festival vibes into their wedding.
Chelsea shares: We’re both avid electronic dance music fans/festival goers, and I’m a lover of Mid-Century Modern design, so the vibe needed to be fun + playful but also refined + modern. Iridescent and disco ball accents seemed like a good base to build off of for my mood board, rather than choosing specific ‘wedding colors.’ As a designer, I also wanted to find space that would have architectural interest and, again, just be different…so The Showcase Room set the stage for our reception.
Let’s proceed to the party Alexandria Monette Photography captured!
The Details
Modern and sophisticated while incorporating a fun and slightly quirky color palette, don’t you think? Major props to Idieh Design for creating this geometric invitation suite!
We are ALL about those glam Louboutins!
The First Look
Chelsea: Our first look! I hiked up the outdoor amphitheater at Papago Park in my brand spankin’ new Louboutin’s. The park has red dirt, so I had to have my coordinator carry my train and veil all the way up to Karl and 'place me' so I wouldn't mess up my dress before the ceremony. Him turning around, tearing up, and saying how beautiful I looked was adorable since he's not much for showing his emotions. I had been so anxious and full of adrenaline all day, so finally getting to hug him felt like such a relief.
Karl: Hands down was when Chelsea came into view and walked down the aisle. We had already done the first look but seeing her in all her radiant beauty will be unforgettable. A lot of excitement & stress led up to our wedding day and standing in front of our friends & family, we managed a soft laugh with everyone that melted all the tension away and made the rest of the ceremony so smooth.
Would you look at the gorgeous train on her Sarah Seven gown!
The Wedding Party
To complement the vibrant color palette, the bridesmaids all rocked pastel gowns from Show Me Your Mumu.
Isn’t this one of the most fun photos you’ve ever seen? Bring on the confetti!!
SO GOOD!
Aren’t the hues in this bouquet simply brilliant? We adore the pink pops mixed with the blue touches.
The Shimmering Ceremony Space
For the backdrop, Bloom & Bloomprint wanted to create something different…so, it was all about iridescent panels!
Processional: Abandon Window by Jon Hopkins; Bride: Good For Me by Above & Beyond
Recessional: I'll Never Dream I'm In Love by Kaskade vs Alex Gaudino
First Dance: Sun & Moon (Acoustic) by Above & Beyond
So cute, you two!!
The Rockin’ Reception
And, of course, to go with all the iridescent aspects, they had to bring in a disco ball!

Such a fun idea to fashion the disco ball into a centerpiece!
We are major cat people, so our specialty drinks were cat themed, I got a cat silhouette neon for the bar, and tied it into the cocktail napkins. We even got cat cake toppers, and Karl got himself + the groomsmen cat socks to wear for the day.
Get a day-of coordinator, even if you can't afford a designer! There's no way I could have managed everything day of, and I wanted our friends and family to be able to enjoy themselves too. Don't feel guilty for wanting what you want, especially if you have relatives or friends with strong opinions. Stay true to your vision and your desires. Try not to let the stress consume you, which is 100% easier said than done in the depths of planning. Get a therapist if you don't have one already.
If you're planning/designing most of your day yourself like I did, don't forget that a lot of the awesome photos you see online are often due to a team of amazing professionals who worked their butts off to style it. And lastly, don't take everything SO seriously. The day is gone in an instant and, for me personally, was not worth the year-plus of stress and anxiety.
Simple + sweet, with just a touch of color! How darling is that Sift BakeHouse cake?
Congratulations, you two!
