Desiree and Dustin’s love story is one that proves love takes time! The pair originally started their relationship as friendly coworkers while serving the US Navy. After several years of working together, they attended a friendly bowling night, and things changed. Dustin confessed that he had feelings for Desiree for the past two years! Desiree was stunned by the admission and insisted that Dustin prove his feelings to her in a meaningful way. The couple dated for a year (one was all the loving proof Desiree was looking for and more!) and Dustin popped the question to the love of his life. And as they say…the rest was history!
The couple was kind enough to share their beautiful wedding day with us, and we couldn’t be more thankful! While their original plan was to wed in Bali (pre-COVID), they later opted for a safe and intimate 10-person ceremony in their native Los Angeles. Art and Souls Events were the planners behind this fantastic day – and it truly came to life! Photography by Mandee Johnson expertly captured the intimacy and raw emotion behind the day. Dying to see every pretty detail? Let’s get into it!
A Touch of Blush
Soft and romantic tones were the main tenet of Desiree and Dustin’s wedding. Blush and gold were used throughout the entire day and it set such a romantic mood!
When describing the type of environment she wanted to create for the big day Desiree said, “I’ve always wanted something intimate, sweet, and romantic. I love flowers, pastels, gold accents, candles, and soft scenery. I knew I wanted to incorporate all of those things to help create that intimate romantic vibe.”
Such beautiful ladies!
When it comes to a theme, it always looks so chic when couples fully commit to it! Dustin looked absolutely amazing in his blush-toned jacket. Excellent choice!
The ceremony setup was kept clean and simple. The white metal chairs accompanied solely by a delicate pampas grass ceremony “arch” felt incredibly romantic and chic in its simplicity.

Holding Onto Love
Having a small audience is incredibly romantic. This ten-person wedding reception made it incredibly easy for the bride and groom to pour their heart out to one another without the pressure of a crowd. Such a remarkable experience!
As we were both reading each other our personal vows, we couldn't help but cry. We both were so nervous but we could feel each other's love. It was beautiful. Our couple's dance was super cute, we just held each other the entire time and kissed a million times. We honestly kissed so much on our wedding day, we couldn't help it.
An Evening of Romance
I wore a handmade soft white off-the-shoulder wedding gown with a matching chapel length veil created by Alex Veil Bridal. It was love at first sight, I instantly fell in love. It had all the romantic vibes I was looking for.
Desiree and Dustin looked regal while posing for wedding day photos.
A small signature cocktail menu was offered for the dinner party guests. The premier drink of the evening was comprised of Patrón tequila, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, a hint of orange, and soda. Sign us up!
This is something truly special and unique. We absolutely adore that the wedding reception (held at Festoon LA) was decorated with framed pieces of artwork. It’s something that sounds so simple, yet we rarely see put into practice at weddings. Amazing!
The tablescape was kept clean and classic. The natural color of the wooden table was brought out by the white dinner plates and blush napkins kept the overall theme in check.
Instead of a larger menu, the evening’s meal was printed on a notecard-sized design. Very fitting for the bite-sized crowd!
Just Desserts
Now, THIS was a true standout of the evening. Each guest had their own personal-sized cake to indulge in! How CUTE!
The evening’s main cake was decorated with delicate strokes of pink frosting, gently outlined with a golden touch.
Having an attentive wedding planner really made everything possible for us. We were able to see our vision come to life because our wedding planner listened to everything we said, used her amazing lists of vendors and skills to bring it all together, and was there on our wedding day behind the scenes making sure every detail was perfect. Also, having the food/catering style choice that you want is very important. Because we went with our gut, we, along with our guests were extremely happy and enjoyed every last bit of our meal and beverage options.
What a lovely evening! Congratulations to Desiree and Dustin on your fantastic wedding day!
