Intimate Historic Alabama Wedding: Lyndon + Austin

Alabama Wedding

Lyndon + Austin’s Florence, Alabama wedding was a magical blend of old southern charm + modern style. The entire day was a labor of love + these two creatives had a hand in just about every aspect of the design. Austin is a modern day barber, owner of Greasy Hands in Florence, with a penchant for old school techniques + aesthetic. Lyndon is a talented graphic designer with tons of style across the board (just check out her perfectly pieced together wedding ensemble – a custom lace top from Natalie Busby with a skirt from J.Crew – and you’ll know what we mean). Together they crafted a day that was meaningful, stylish, intimate and unique. Friends + family chipped in big time, helping with food, deserts, decor, and more. And with the amazing team at W&E Photographie there to perfectly capture it all, what could go wrong? We have lots more details to share throughout the post + the super cute story of how L + A met at the very end, so be sure not to miss anything!

The wedding day started off cool and calm for both Lyndon + Austin. Austin kicked off his day by brewing coffee at his barbershop and giving haircuts to his friends and brothers.

When it came to her wedding day attire, Lyndon opted to enlist the help of her close friend + bridesmaid, who also happens to be an extremely talented clothing designer: Natalie Busby. One day while searching through her mother’s attic, Lyndon discovered a large collection of Belgian lace that her mother had purchased while abroad many years earlier. Lyndon brought the lace to Natalie who created that amazing top she’s wearing! A simple J.Crew skirt + shoes by Steve Madden completed her super stylish look.

W&E Photographie tells us, Just as the ceremony was set to begin, the guests hurried into the chapel and the sky fell out. Lyndon and Austin said their vows to the sound of an almost nostalgic southern, summer storm. And it was perfect.

The reception went down on the patio of Lyndon and Austin’s downtown loft. They borrowed furniture from friends who live nearby for the set up. Another friend whipped up a homemade taco bar and served up ice cold drinks in glass bottles. Austin’s brother’s girlfriend baked a number of her famous pies which were enjoyed with the family’s incredible homemade ice cream!

Such cuties, right? W&E Photographie tells us all about how they met below, so get ready to like these two even more!

Although they attended the same university at the same time, Lyndon and Austin never really formally met. They knew of each other and may have been introduced once in passing, but that was it. After college graduation, Lyndon moved to Budapest and spent time working and backpacking across Europe. When she returned to the states, she ended up in New York for about a year. Austin, happened to be living in New York, working for Esquire and becoming a certified barber during that time as well. He vaguely remembered Lyndon from Alabama, and reached out to see if she’d want to meet up. Lyndon responded that she would love to, but after being in New York for a year, she’d just recently made the move to San Francisco. What are the odds!Months went by and Austin continued to grow more and more interested in Lyndon from afar. He decided it was time he do something about it. Thankfully, one of his best friends had been dating Lyndon’s sister for quite some time, so he planned a trip to San Francisco to visit his friend, while secretly scheming a way to meet up with Lyndon. So, a dinner party was planned. Austin, his best friend, Lyndon’s sister, Lyndon + a few other friends met up at a restaurant. To everyone else at the table that night, Lyndon & Austin were in their own world. They were falling in love. Shortly after Austin’s quick trip to California, they began a long distance relationship. In a matter of months, Lyndon was making the move back to Alabama to live closer to Austin. Things were getting real and marriage was on the horizon. Austin’s proposal fittingly went down during a weekend trip in New York – the place where they both lived, but never knew each other.

Congrats Lyndon + Austin! We wish you all the best!
