Intimate Coffee Shop Denver Elopement: Ashley + Remo

Coffee Shop Elopement

You guys won’t believe the sweet story behind today’s intimate elopement at Weathervave Cafe in Denver, Colorado. Ashley + Remo came all the way from Italy to say their I Dos at the coffee shop where they first met and the beauty was captured perfectly by Our Love Is Loud, who A + R hired after finding right here on GWS!! :)

Ashley tells us, Remo and I met in Denver in 2013. I was working and living there for a year with some friends. Remo was there for a few months visiting his aunt and learning English. The woman I worked for is good friends with his aunt. She told me he was new in town and she thought we could meet so he could join our group of friends. Two weeks later we met at Weathervane Cafe for coffee. Two years and a couple of trips to Italy later, we were brainstorming wedding locations in Colorado. We knew we wanted to elope and have a ceremony/party the following year when our families could be together. We thought about finding a place in the mountains, but decided we wouldn’t have much time to scope out a spot the day before the wedding. I playfully mentioned Weathervane one day, and he said, “Wait, why not? That’s perfect!” If we were going back to Colorado to get married, why not do it where we met?

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

My favorite memory is actually the night before our wedding, when we sat in bed and wrote our vows together side by side. We kept them secret from each other, but sitting next to someone when you are thinking of all the reasons why you love them and why you have chosen them was very special. Remo's favorite memory was getting ready in the hotel that morning, the excitement leading up to our little ceremony.

My mom made my dress and my sister made Remo’s bow tie and handkerchief. Remo’s Cerruti suit was made in his hometown in Italy and we found our rings in a neighboring village.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Try not to let the stress take over. Your family and friends may be disappointed that they didn't get an invite, but this day is about what feels best for the two of you. They love you and they are happy for you. Maybe think of ways they could feel included in your day or plan a little something with them afterward. Even small elopements can be stressful, but you can't let little things overcloud the purpose of the day. Enjoy every little moment! Writing about it later can help you remember how the entire day felt forever.
