Inspired by Nature: Blue Heron + Wetland Wedding Inspiration

Blue Heron Wedding Inspiration

Natural wetlands are among the most productive ecosystems in the world, in a class with coral reefs and rain forests, containing a vast amount of life, including some of the most beautiful aquatic birds, like the blue heron. And that, my friends, is exactly where today’s inspiration comes from — the enigmatic blue heron.

Designer + florist, Marisa of Revel Petals shares To see a blue heron is no common occurrence as the birds themselves are shy and like to keep to themselves. So too, love can sometimes feel rare and hard to attain. But once we have it, the feeling of luck and serendipity can make a heart feel like flying.

So serene…

From a design perspective, the team took the literal + abstract from the marshlands and infused it throughout the concept: gray gauzy fabrics to mimic the mist at sunrise, wild bowing flowers with feather-like leaves nod to wings, feathers scattered around the scenes to bring in the essence of the birds themselves.

Stylist Jenni of The Blushing Bird shares Our blue heron muse immediately made me think of the ethereal gray off-the-shoulder shoulder Natalie gown by Brooklyn-based designer, Tatyana Merenyuk. Tatyana makes this stunning dress in more traditional white, ivory or blush, but the soft gray has a unique quality that still feels so ethereal and bridal.

Pale blue, silvery green, and purple hues rounded out this dreamy bouquet by Revel Petals.

The Blushing Bird paired the gown with her Josefine headpiece by Jannie Baltzer — an ivory lace piece with hand sewn Preciosa crystal and pearls, that wraps around the head for a gorgeous view at every angle. She topped the look off with Cinderella-inspired shoes by Emmy London, along with elegant silver drop earrings by Camilla Christine.

The tablescape was draped with a light linen fabric from La Tavola Fine Linens and blue hues all around… Plates + glasses from Dish Wish added shades of gray and white for more depth and dimension.
