Inspired by Ink: An Edgy Wedding for the Artistic Couple

Dramatic + bold with major contrasts, today’s styled shoot speaks to the couples that fancy themselves a bit edgier + live for all things artistic. The florist, Corie of Foxtail Florals, shares I have always wanted to take a more dramatic and crazy approach and do weddings a bit different… I don’t see everything as pretty, perfect, and sweet! I prefer more raw, emotional, and moody. Sometimes love is a bit crazy and it takes you to emotional places you cant describe… like a rollercoaster and that is what this shoot is all about.

To capture that raw + moody essence, the team at Foxtail Florals created a large ink blot backdrop, reminiscent of the “Rorschach” tests, commonly seen in the office of psychologists. It was this black and white backdrop that set the tone for the entire shoot at Ebell of Long Beach! Working with event designer Amy from All In The Detail Design, the duo brought the vision to life with the help of an amazing team of vendors.

YES. You’re seeing that right — that incredible ink blot served as the backdrop for the ceremony, complete with a gorgeous spread of florals + greenery, and of course, candles.

We absolutely adore the contrast of the black and white here, especially with the splash of color from the florals by Foxtail Florals. For the couple that truly LOVES color though, we could see this backdrop being recreated with all sorts of saturated palettes!

Clever… The team dubbed this styled shoot as the “Psychology of Love,” for the Rorschach-inspired ink blots.

We’re crazy about the use of different textiles here to create different textures. From mud cloth pillows, to cozy throws, and the draping of her Sarah Seven dress…
