Honeymoon at the Grand Palladium in Jamaica

5

Are you a fan of warm sunshine soaking into your skin, vast expanses of turquoise waters, palm trees galore, dancing the night away with a tropical drink in hand, reggae music and insanely vibrant sunsets? If you nodded your head yes, the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa might just be the perfect place for your honeymoon (or romantic getaway)! The resort is removed from the main city of Montego Bay — it’s about a 45 minute drive through the most candy-colored scenery. Pink, orange, purple and turquoise buildings dot the hillside and the boisterous city is buzzing and filled with laughter; kids walk home in their school uniforms, and people are going along their daily lives. We continue our winding drive and finally pull up to the resort, just as the sun is setting on the horizon and the sky is painted with fiery hues…. This is paradise.

The resort is actually a two-part resort — on one side you have the Jamaica Resort, and on the other, you have the Lady Hamilton Resort and Spa. As both sides of the resort look almost identical, and feature the same amenities, there’s not much of a difference, except for one crucial thing: the Lady Hamilton side of the resort is reserved for adults only and geared toward honeymooning couples, romance and even weddings! So if you’re looking to getaway, relax and imbibe some delicious rum-infused drinks — the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa definitely fits the bill!

We’ve only been back from Jamaica for a few days now and we’re already wondering when we can go back… Ready to see why?

The water is truly THAT BLUE!! Also, if you look to the right of the photo – there is a sweet little gazebo, which makes the perfect setting for a sweetheart dinner… Or even vows + vow renewals!

One afternoon, we were taken out to sea on a catamaran! Reggae music filled the air as we ate lunch on the boat. The captain navigated us to a private cove, where we swam in the the turquoise waters and watched goats frolic on the surrounding hills (YES, there are surprisingly a lot of wild goats in Jamaica).

If you look closely, you can get a glimpse of one of the many restaurants on the property – there are seven in total! One of our FAVORITE meals included pumpkin soup, a mouthwatering steak that was topped with an herb butter + a veggie-friendly Rastafarian fare of sweet beans + rice. For breakfast/lunch, there’s a huge buffet that offers made-to-order omelettes, crêpes, bacon, smoked salmon, a donut bar and more… Additionally, there’s a Sports Bar that’s open almost round-the-clock with tasty treats. Oh and it wouldn’t be a trip to Jamaica if you didn’t try the Jerk Chicken!!

Relax on the beach + then head over to the Greco-Roman-inspired spa!! There, they offer a couples massage, hydrotherapy and facials. (We especially loved the Collagen Facial — which happens to be their most popular one).

The resort was brimming with tropical trees – if you look up you can see the baby coconuts! On our first evening, a mixologist crafted one of the most delicious drinks we’ve ever tasted! He blended a popular local fruit — soursop (the outside resembles a spiny avocado and it’s an unfamiliar flavor to my palette – sort of sweet, sour and tangy)— and mixed it with rum cream + a dash of cinnamon… Seriously DELISH!

The gorgeous buildings are painted in sweet pastel hues. We found a few hammocks tied to palm trees, too!

After a beautiful day at the resort, there are some awesome entertainment options… We were treated to the ‘Zurielamaka Show’ which featured traditional Jamaican dances, fire + more! In honor of one of Jamaica’s most well-known citizens, we learned how to make a red-yellow-green Bob Marley cocktail!

How gorgeous is the pool at sunrise?! Fun Fact: The pool at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa is the largest in Jamaica!
