I think that ceremony setting above might be one of the most amazing spots to say I do, right?? I mean…wow…. So, let’s find out more about this gorgeous couple! Kristin + Matt wanted their wedding to feel warm + timeless, like an old family heirloom, and for their guests to sense an air of romance throughout the setting + carried through the decor. Their choice to incorporate natural woods, faded metallics, and pretty, soft lace textiles really brought their ideas to life + couldn’t have been more perfect! And many of the styling elements used to make up the romantic environment were pieces they brought from their own home, which gave the day a truly fun + meaningful spin.
We have to add that Kirstin + Matt tied the knot at one of our fave new California venues, Malibu Rocky Oaks (also featured in our Top 26 Coolest Places to Get Married). (See even more of this pretty, pretty location in this recent post about the Casa de Perrin dinner party we attended there!) But let’s not wait any longer, Birds of a Feather’s gorgeous photos of Kristin + Matt’s day are just so good!
Matt and I really went back and forth on a "first look". On one hand, you have more time to get really awesome photos before the wedding (as opposed to fitting most pictures into the cocktail hour timeframe), but on the other hand, there's just something fun about not getting to see each other until you're walking down the aisle. We decided to wait to see each other until the ceremony. I just always imagined Matt seeing me for the first time as I enter the aisle and getting to see the look on his face (and him seeing mine) and sharing that joy and excitement with all of our loved ones. From that moment on, I couldn't stop looking at him and smiling. Almost as though everyone else disappeared and we were in this special moment together.

Couture Events + Stephanie Grace Designs did such an incredible job of bringing Kristin + Matt’s vision for a romantic, old-world celebration to life. From the lush centerpieces to the sweet, key-tied place setting decor, we’re loving it all big time!
Kristin + Matt took off at the end of the night in a super rad vintage Rolls Royce (that one was Matt’s idea)! Such a beautiful + fun-sounding day, right?!
Planning can be very stressful.. if you let it! Matt and I have always been people who like to have all the control, but getting a coordinator/planner was such a great choice for us. We attempted planning ourselves for about 1-2 months and as the stress came on with life and work, we sought planning help. We feel like we made all the decisions as to what to have at the wedding and how we wanted it to be and feel, but we definitely recognize (especially now) what a pleasure it was to leave the logistics of making it happen all to our coordinators up-to and on the day-of. We really, truly felt that we got to sit back, relax, and enjoy our wedding day without wondering if we were on time, where we needed to be, and if things were going like they should. It almost felt like we were of celebrity status, being ushered here and there and everyone always making sure we were doing ok and we had a drink in hand! If your budget allows, we absolutely recommended passing the torch, at least on your wedding day, so that you can really just be in the moment and let it be the best day of your life!
