Modern Tropics: A Hawaiian Love Story Complete with Horses in Floral Crowns!

The moment that Gabriella Katalin moved to Hawaii, she knew she wanted to set up a tropical wedding shoot. Being a photographer, she could envision all the ways to transform jungle spaces + grassy plains, all she needed was the right couple + a little bit of help to make it come to fruition. So, when it came time, she called upon Carina Cooper at Sunset Ranch — a gorgeous venue on the North Shore of Oahu.

The team quickly came together: Roam Rentals provided boho mid-century furniture, which was topped by Ocean Dreamer’s stunning floral creations. Complete with a crew of furry friends + a talkative macaw, Gabriella’s vision turned out to be pure magic. Let’s take a peek, shall we?

To set all the tropical vibes for the day, Pigment and Parchment created this vibrant watercolor invitation suite.

Palm fronds, monstera leaves, and a collection of peachy pink florals — Ocean Dreamer Florals definitely nailed all the floral designs… Especially when it came to the hibiscus flower crowns!!

The team chose a simple + chic Badgley Mischka dress for the day — allowing all the colorful elements to really stand out.

Josh and Lauren’s styling was done by talented the MUA team: Allison and Coco of Reveal Hair and Makeup. Gabriella shares: They brought my visions to life with the two lovebirds’ effortless, yet stunning and simple makeup and hair.

Hello gorgeous lounge!! We’d love to have a few of these pieces in our yard/personal oasis…

Gabriella tells us: The planner, Carina Cooper, deserves recognition for bringing the furry gang together (you’ll see them below!) and coordinating our shoot with the ranch. I couldn’t be more grateful to her for making my dreams come true by bringing us Maleficent, the macaw, who was definitely the highlight of our day — she can also talk!! And laugh when you laugh, for that matter, making the entire day endless fun… She was definitely not shy about entertaining us.

Though we are *pretty* darn fond of the horses in the floral crowns. Too cute!!
