Today’s handmade barn wedding has a lot of unique details + a little Americana flair. Ashley + Nick tied the knot at a private property in Ohio and we love how their day had such a perfect laid-back, informal feel. There were lots of DIY projects, homemade pies + some suuuuper sweet-looking bridesmaid ensembles. Basically, this one represents all the reasons we love a good barn wedding! Since I am a wedding photographer, I have inspiration in my everyday life! I knew I wanted neutral/classic wedding colors. Our pop of gold was perfect and added just a hint of elegance. Nick and I have been together for 7 years, so much love and history, and it was SO important to us to make our day very…US. We served casual food, had a food truck, set up hay bale lounge areas in lieu of formal seating, incorporated Nick’s favorite drink (old fashioneds), we skipped the cake and went for pies, played music that has been the soundtrack to our relationship, had our best friend get ordained and marry us, and we danced and drank under the stars. It.Was.Perfect.

Our Favorite Memory
My absolute favorite part of the day was the Ceremony. It was personal and emotional and an absolute dream. We asked our best friend to officiate the ceremony, and that was the best decision we made in all the plans of our wedding. (Yes, you can totally get ordained on the internet, it’s legit!) This gave us the opportunity to incorporate so many amazing memories into our ceremony. Every single word from the ceremony was from the heart. We wrote our own vows… And that was truly the most defining moment in my life. To share that moment with all our friends and family, expressing our love and vowing to love one-another for all the years to come was the most powerful feelings we have both ever felt. Needless to say, our hearts were FULL.

The reception details had a fun, rustic feel but the touches of gold lent just the right amount of elegance.

Our Advice
You can slave away on all the details all year long, stress about the little stuff, waste away on wedding blogs, pinterest, and your weather apps, but that day…. Let it all go. I cannot express to your how much those things do not matter! Be present in your day, squeeze your friends and family, and remember that at the end of the day you have your husband, forever… And that is all that matters. I am so glad I was able to let go of all the details that day and just be alive and in love. Truly made the day perfect.
