When it comes to locations that wow, today’s wedding – captured by Helena and Laurent Photography – has things on lock. Because what could be more amazing than tying the knot literally under the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset? At the moment, we can’t think of a thing!
Whitney + Kevin discovered their wedding location while bike riding one day (one of their fave hobbies to enjoy together) and the details were centered around their upcoming world travels. Yep, these two are a couple of true adventurers and their wedding kicked off a year long journey traveling around the world!
Whitney tells us, Our inspiration for the day was to intertwine natural elements into a classical wedding with a bohemian touch. We knew our guests traveled very far to celebrate, so it was important to us to have a comfortable, intimate wedding, even with 100 guests. We also wanted to highlight our active urban lifestyle as well. The Presidio Yacht Club was the perfect setting as we really enjoy cycling and would typically stop for a post-ride refreshment at this little-known quirky historic venue on the bay.
Whit’s Coretta by Amy Kuschel dress is a total dream!
THE dreamiest backdrop for your first look, right?!
We’re crazy into these wild green bouquets by Sylvie from Elizabeth’s Flowers!
Kevin: Exchanging our vows with the woman of my dreams and seeing her smile with a tear running down her cheek while being surrounded closely by our friends and family.
Whitney: The dry dock doors sliding open and walking down the aisle arm-in-arm with my father and looking up to meet eyes with Kevin. (Totally cheesy, but it's true.)
Processional: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring – Bach
Recessional: Girl from Ipanema by Antonio Jobim and Hey Little Light – Jonathan Patch
First Dance: Take Care – Beach House
From Whitney, We chose to incorporate elements of our shared joys in the Bay Area (ie: succulents, bicycling, live music, diy, flea markets and antiques, wines and wine country, the waterfront, and fresh, local seasonal foods served family style).
Enjoy the planning process. It's one of the most special days of your lives together. Hopefully you're making choices between "great" or "amazing" on most aspects of the day and it's important to keep that in perspective. Everyone is going to have an opinion and you will have to compromise at times, but choose your battles (especially with family) and work with your partner as a team. Not everything will be what you exactly envisioned for your wedding, but you're creating a shared vision and working together on most aspects of the wedding to make it special for you both. We really enjoyed the fruits of our labor that day and it continues to remind us how much we've loved each other before, during, and after the wedding.
