Meg + Scott’s gorgeous desert wedding was the perfect balance of  Palm Springs glamour + relaxed fun. Because they got married at Meg’s family estate, friends + family were able to travel in for an unforgettable weekend and Meg + Scott will be able to return to the property year after year to relive the amazing memories they experienced on their wedding day!
You’re going to love all of the captivating, yet timeless details that were included in the design by Meg Shaw and Bustle Events and captured beautifully by Joielala Photographie. And be sure not to miss their super sweet proposal story at the very end of the post!
Majorly in love with Meg’s stunning king protea bouquet!
From Meg, Because our families are such a huge part of our lives, we asked Scott’s brother, his wife + their daughter to stand up on his side and my sister, her husband + their son to stand on my side to represent the new unity of our families – which became one big family that day. Our union wouldn’t have been complete without our best friend + trusty companion, Tommy Shaw (the golden retriever), standing by our side (and at times on my train!).
Scott + I wanted our wedding to be beautiful, but most of all we wanted it to be a GREAT party. We served delicious small plates by Whoa Nelly! Catering + swanky tunes played in the background. After dinner was over we skipped most of the formalities and got straight to the party. Scott + I stole the microphone on the dance floor and got lifted up on the shoulders of our guests, singing John Denver’s ‘Country Roads’ and The Righteous Brothers’ ‘You’ve Lost that Loving Feelin’!
One of our favorite moments was after we finished photos – we made our grand entrance into the reception with all of our closest family and friends together in one place, seated under twinkling lights and palm trees, cheering us on. It was incredibly emotional and overwhelming.
Make sure to check out their gorgeous wedding video from Modern 8 Films!
You know I always love a good proposal story, and Meg + Scott’s is as sweet as they come…
Scott and I met briefly at a work event at a bar in San Francisco in 2005. His then roommate and my best friend also met that night, and they began dating shortly after. A few weeks later, they insisted that we meet and set us up on what was basically a blind date since we only said a quick hello the night we met. After that date we were inseparable. One year passed and my previous career in hotel real estate required that I move to LA; Scott + I decided it made sense to breakup…if our relationship was meant to be it would be sometime in the future! I spent one year in LA and moved back to the Bay Area. Scott and I reunited over dinner, and that night we knew that we couldn’t live without each other.Â
In May of 2011, on the anniversary of the day we first met at that work event, Scott and I were doing yard work at the home we purchased together in 2010. We were planting a tree and as I was digging, I hit a small cardboard box in the ground. I was completely confused and thought the previous owners had buried something. I found a small white box inside that dirty cardboard box, and Scott got down on one knee. Obviously, I said yes! And obviously he chose the place we’d be planting that tree.
Congratulations, Meg + Scott! We wish you all the best!

So natural, soft and romantic!
Thanks for sharing!
Every element is stunning! One question – the speech from the bridesmaid, is that her original or can I find that somewhere? It was beautiful, even just the bits and pieces caught on this film.
Hi Kate-
I am the bride in these photos -thanks for your sweet words! I actually found the passage my sister read online. It was written by the British novelist Louis de Bernières and was originally published in his book Corelli’s Mandolin.
Good luck!
Meg
Just love your wedding, so so beautiful, the video brought me to tears! Love the look of your ring – if you wouldn’t mind, would you be able to let me know where you go it from? It’s just what I’m looking for! Thanks so much x
Hi Olivia,
Aw, thank you!
My husband actually designed my ring himself (without my input – he’s so good!) and a family friend who’s in the jewelry biz in Chicago made it for us. So, unfortunately, I don’t think you can find it retail as the jeweler is private…
Good Luck!
xo Meg
Love this! The dress, the dog, the sunlight! <3

JOIELALA always, always takes amazing photos; this wedding was no exception! Of course, there was no shortage of gorgeous things to photograph, though. Brilliantly shot, gorgeous wedding!
These photos are just gorgeous. I love the gorgeous field of purple flowers. They really make the mood of the photos.
