Casey + Paul live in Brooklyn but choose to hold their wedding in Lake Martin, Alabama since it holds a special place in Casey’s heart and is now where her parents live. Looking for a reception venue that was close to their ceremony site, they found the perfect venue at The Stables at Russell Crossroads. The barn made for a romantic rustic setting and they were able to show their friends (many who had never visited the South before) why they love the South so much. :) It was really important to Casey + Paul that the natural beauty of their surroundings was the main characteristic of the day – and the contrast between rustic + glam made for such a gorgeous wedding! Thanks so much to Simply Bloom Photography for the lovely photos and Amy Osaba Event Floral Design for the gorgeous styling + florals.
We had a traditional ceremony with a few twists. We both wrote our own vows, which I highly recommend to anyone planning a wedding…it makes it so very special. We also had a twist on the unity candle ceremony. My favorite part of the Christmas Eve ceremony at my Alabama church is the candle lighting ceremony. We combined that ceremony with the unity candle ceremony. We wanted to show that a successful marriage is not just about the two people involved but also the friends and family that support them. In the ceremony we lit the unity candle to symbolize our union in marriage. Then we passed our light on to the family and friends gathered to witness our marriage. It was powerful to see all those candles held up showing love and support of us.
The ceremony was by far the favorite moment of the day for both of us. The sun was setting and the light from the day’s end was shinning through the chapel’s windows down on to us while were saying our vows to each other. It was a magical moment that we will never forget.
We had metallic touches everywhere – from the table decorations to the place cards. We spray painted pumpkins and gourds. My dad built 12 farm tables and used the wood from my great grandfather’s barn which we used for our reception tables. They turned out to be absolutely gorgeous! It was in a barn, so downstairs there were these beautiful horses that the guests could see.
Congrats to Casey + Paul who are backpacking through Europe right now! :)

Beautiful florals!
Her dad built 12 farm tables for the reception?? Oh my goodness that is soooo sweet! What a STUNNING wedding!
I love how bright everything was, especially the venue and chappel!
what a great venue. love the centerpieces too.
I love the decor. It is ‘country’ without being too fussy, the same kind of style that I am going for.
