Maine is For Lovers: Funky Brewery Wedding in Portland Maine

Alexandra + Dylan are just impossibly cool.

Based in Portland, Maine, Alexandra owns Girl That Designs (a branding and packaging agency that gives tons of awesome brands their signature looks) and Dylan is the brewer at the iconic Austin Street Brewery. Both businesses are located on Fox St. in the heart of Portland where the couple also happens to live!

After they eloped on a mountaintop in October of 2020, Alexandra + Dylan wanted to throw a seriously fun and non-traditional party of a wedding to celebrate their love with their friends and family. When picking a location, Austin Street Brewery was the obvious choice! The couple lives just down the street. They had their second date there. They celebrated their engagement there. Dylan works his beer-brewing magic there daily!! And since the two are part of Portland’s events and small business scene many of the vendors were their super-creative friends!

When the big day came, they got ready at home, walked a few blocks to the venue with their dog Clementine and had the fun, funky, and casual celebration of their dreams. Thank goodness Katelyn Mallett Photography was there snapping gorgeous photos so we can take a look!

All of the wedding’s colorful retro-inspired paper goods were created by Girl That Designs (aka the bride!).

Alexandra’s gorgeous green engagement ring was made by Sirciam Jewelry and the custom framing bands were created by Nell Ballard Designs.

The day’s bright and bountiful florals full of creative greenery were the work of florist (and friend!) Electric Flora.

Alexandra rocked the flowy, free-spirited Nassau Long-Sleeve Deep-V Embroidered Side-Slit Wedding Gown by Anthropologie Weddings for the funky festivities. We adore the romantic, bohemian floral appliques and plunging neckline!

Cheers!! You know Alexandra + Dylan HAD to create a custom wedding day beer!! Their signature brew was a limoncello sour called “Roman Holiday” which was a nod to the time the couple spent living in Rome!

Alexandra + Dylan paid homage to their time spent living abroad in Italy with the wedding’s food as well! Charcuterie cups were served by The Portland Board, a local Portland, ME vendor that serves savory treats out of a restored baby blue VW bus. Quanto Basta also stopped by to serve brick oven style Italian Pizza out of an old Italian car, and for dessert they had a variety of cannoli made by chef pal Shannon Mahoney with fun flavors like apple pie, tiramisu, and Fruity Pebble.
