Hi, friends. How are we doing? We know everyone is just taking it day by day and we’re doing our best to continue to offer inspiration while we support vendors and couples through all the unknowns. Deep breaths and big (virtual) hugs.
There are a few things that almost always lift our moods. One thing is simply to get moving. We don’t have to give you the science behind exercise and emotions (please reference Legally Blonde re: endorphins); let’s just all agree that it WORKS. Another thing we love? Free stuff. And there are a lot of talented, generous creators out there who are offering free resources for your mind + body right now during this time of crisis. We thought we’d share (and continue to update) a list of ways you can spend some time on your mind + body right now — without having to spend a cent.
If you do partake, please consider leaving reviews and sharing on your social media platforms. Small businesses and the creative community all need our support right now. App reviews may seem like no big thing, but they really make a difference and it’s something simple we can all do.
Lots of love…we hope you find this list useful!
Free Trial Workout Apps
Studio Tone It Up – Katrina, Karina, and the TIU teams are making the app free for 30 days (through mid-April) to new members. Get on-demand workouts for any fitness level with professional trainers that you can do on your own or live with the TIU community around the world.
Peloton — You don’t need a bike to enjoy a 90-day trial of on-demand classes from boot camps to strength training. (No credit card info necessary!)
obé fitness — Another free trial situation with live + on-demand workouts…with a super cute aesthetic! And for those with littles, they just launched obé x KIDZ BOP to help get some (focused) energy our of your kiddos!
Crossrope — You need a weighted jump rope for this, but the jump rope training app is free! They have HIIT, Strength and Endurance work out options. Jen loves this one!
The Sculpt Society — Have you guys tried this one? We’ve been wanting to check it out and the 14-day trial sounds like a good idea right now!
Free Workout Videos
Yoga With Adrienne — Adrienne’s Youtube channel is always free and we LOVE her like a BFF. She (and her dog Benji) makes yoga accessible to folks at any level. Her mantra, “find what feels good,” is just what we need right now. Sort through to find practices specific to your needs: anxiety, 10-min salutations, back pain, energy, brainpower, and literally everything else!
Active by POPSUGAR — In light of COVID-19, POPSUGAR launched Active early and completely free. This is brand new, so we’re excited to give it a try! From the website: “Hundreds of workouts from celebrity trainers and fitness experts plus POPSUGAR’s exclusive multi-week curated fitness plans to get you results.”
Free for the Mind
Headspace — The Headspace app has a FREE collection of meditations, sleep, and movement exercises called “Weathering the Storm” to help you out. Go to this page to access free resources and articles, as well.
Creative Classes from Brit + Co — Feel like learning something new? Getting creative is SO good for mental health and Brit + Co JUST made all their classes (from watercolor to wedding photography to photoshop skill and SO MUCH more) FREE through 3/31! Go to brit.co/learn and use the code SELFCARE at checkout. (Check out Brit’s new podcast Teach Me Something New while you’re at it…the first episode with Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis is so fun!)
As we said, we’ll keep this list updated along the way. Feel free to leave a comment to add your own suggestion!
