No, you’re not a graphic designer. But creating your online wedding invitations is easier now than ever! With so many independent artists out there selling their rad designs through online invitation shops or Etsy, you literally have endless options.
These online shops make it easy (and fun!) to choose a design and customize invitations for your wedding day. Modern stationery at your fingertips? Yes! Letterpress, foiling, embossing, organic edging, envelope liners, and more are easy to access and budget-friendly. But before we share our favorite online wedding invitation shops, let’s break down invitations a bit, shall we?
When Do I Send Wedding Invitations?
Before the pandemic, wedding professionals would suggest you send out invitations between 8 and 10 weeks from your special day. This is still a solid guideline! However, given the current wedding boom, there’s no harm in getting your invitations in the mail even earlier.
Naturally, save the date cards are sent out before wedding invitations. The general rule of thumb is to send them between 6 and 12 months before the wedding. It’s even common to send the save the date cards out 12 months from the wedding if you’re planning a long engagement.
Wedding Invitation Wording
As with everything, it is all about preference and personal style. Your save-the-date cards and wedding invitations are the first tangible peeks into your wedding vibe and design. Think about the formality of your wedding. With that said, the formality can also be drawn from the wedding venue itself. If you’re planning a destination wedding, perhaps the verbiage is a bit more relaxed. Comparatively, a wedding invitation to a historic vineyard might be buttoned up + stately.
Your wedding invitation verbiage can also be dictated by who’s actually hosting your wedding. Traditionalists might have the bride’s parents hosting the wedding day, which would be the invitation phrasing is, technically, an invitation from them. Take a look at some ideas for your wedding invitation wording with variations. To point out, our wedding invitation wording ideas are just suggestions, so feel free to personalize any to suit your personal style:
