We’re a bit partial to Lake Como, having visited last year (we also spoke at the By the Lake Workshop — check it out here!). As the lake is just north of Milan, it’s known for bringing in a lot of fashion forward ideas + trends. It came as no surprise to us when George Clooney bought a home here! Oh, and fun fact – Jason (the man behind GWS) even had a Clooney sighting last fall when we were in Lake Como!!!
As with many places in Italy, Lake Como is proud of its centuries-old architecture and classic Italian design; however, it also welcomes in the new, fresh and modern, too! Because of that, Camilla Anchisi Photography wanted to celebrate the old and the new. She teamed up with Elena of Benevent Planner to bring us this combination of Old World and fresh modernism. Focusing on timeless beauty, as well as minimalist design, while still infusing tons of texture and natural elements, we were simply blown away by this editorial.
Let’s venture to Italy, shall we?
The Details
How refined and elegant is this invitation suite, featuring pops of gold + copper? It’s the genius work of Camilla Anchisi Design!
Does it come as any surprise that we at Green Wedding Shoes have a thing for… well, shoes?! Especially when they’re embellished with dainty florals like these Bella Belle Shoes!
The Outfits
With Lake Como sitting just north of Milan, there’s a huge influence from all the fashion forward designs. Example A) This nude + white floral wedding dress by Tara Lauren!
The Bridesmaids
To complement the bride’s floral dress, the bridesmaids wore ethereal Jenny Yoo tulle dresses in shades of blush and light lavender.
Love these floral hoops for the bridesmaids as much as us? We created this DIY tutorial so you can create something similar!
The Florals
Figli Dei Fiori crafted bouquets with blooms for DAYS. We adore how wild, yet refined, this look is with all the textures + light pink ranunculus.
A light gray suit has never looked SO GOOD! Major props to Linneo Archivable Clothing.
The Ceremony Space
Local dried flowers, lunaria, gypsophila, cotton flowers, twigs and greenery were used for the floral arrangements, creating romantic vignettes
All white walls, an asymmetrical textured arch, and stunning details — like the bride’s lilac turban from Bridal Turban!
How gorgeous are those pastel hues?!
The Location: Lake Como, Italy
Lake Como is definitely a dream destination and would double as an incredible honeymoon location, post-ceremony. (We’re already wanting to go back!)
Isn’t this pairing so elegant and modern? Villa Bianca Stucchi recently opened its doors, and welcomes couples to wed on the shores of Lake Como. Can you imagine being surrounded by all that gorgeous 19th-century architecture, lush gardens, and have views of the lake?
The Modern Reception
Figli dei Fiori created a stunning scene with a hanging floral installation above the reception table in the main hall, overlooking the lake.
Mimicking the Old World design and 19th-century architecture elements of the villa, the team chose these elegant plates with etched detailing.
The table design was kept simple and clean using lot of candles and a cascading silk runner with sewn on flowers, to add movement. The team combined neutral hues and DIY elements —hand-dyed napkins + hand-painted glasses — to add a personal touch.
Oh, how we’d LOVE to be back in Lake Como. One last thing that we adore about this editorial? The color palette is fairly neutral, so it could work throughout the seasons!
