Jordana of Hazelnut Photography sent over this sweet engagement session along with Diandra + Javier’s story…
Diandra & Javier have been friends for years. Best friends. Then one day, it clicked. That they were more than friends. They knew that they were it for each other. And just as their worlds were settling in to place, Javier, an Army Reservist, was called into active duty. In just a few short weeks, Javier will be deploying to Afghanistan for a year. Newly engaged, Javier & Diandra really wanted to shoot their engagement session before he leaves. To have a little bit of something while he’s gone. Diandra is a wedding photographer and she knew she wanted something a little different for their engagement session. Something that really meant something to the two of them. Carter & Cook created a beautiful inspiration board and Diandra went to work. Diandra brought along love letters, some that they’d written while he was away in training and some that she created for the shoot. They represent long distance love, the military, and something so incredibly forgotten in our modern day of emails, texts and social media. She also created strings of stars. Javier is Cuban and both the Cuban flag and the Army logo both use a single star. It’s also something simple and absolutely beautiful. They put so much thought into the session, so much of the themselves, and I’m so happy with how it turned out.
I couldn’t agree more Jordana! Best of luck to you both in your time apart and thanks Javier for all you do for our country.
Best of luck Diandra + Javier!
