I think it’s safe to say that most of us love the beach. The sun, the surf, the sand – the whole shebang – it really is just one of the best places to be. The team behind today’s fun editorial (Candice Benjamin Photography, Trina Schmidt Weddings & Special Events, and Pixies Petals) agrees wholeheartedly, but adds that not all couples have the ability to get married ocean-side. So their goal was to meld the fun vibe of vintage Hawaii with 60’s beach culture details and translate it into a modern dose of wedding inspiration! We love that matter where you may be located, this session shares how to bring a touch of the beach to your big day!
More from Leslie of Pixies Petals, We wanted to update the idea of using traditional tropical and beach items such as tiki glasses, tropical flowers and surfboards, into something modern, current and stylish for today’s couple. We accomplished this by using things with similar materials in composition to the originals. For example in the floral designs poppies were used instead of hibiscus, and ferns instead of ti leaves. Wooden elements were featured in the table décor and escort cards to evoke the idea of a vintage longboard. The table settings were selected for their 60’s appeal and the invitation suite and printed items featured tropical-style patterns and shapes.
Such fun paper goods from Paper Crew!
A sweet, beachy-meets-retro look was just right!
And love the tropical feel to the tablescape.
Poppy pods, pincushion protea, and textural fern are perfect elements to include into your floral design if you’re hoping to achieve a summertime feel.
We seriously wouldn’t mind one of these hawaiian ice treats right about now!
So much fun! Thanks so much to everyone below for indulging us in a little mental beach vacay today. We hope all of you out there who love the beach, but can’t tie the knot there, are inspired to incorporate a touch of seaside style into your wedding celebration!
