As Kit + Ben began planning their wedding, they quickly realized how important it was that the day be a reflection of both of their personalities and interests. It did not take long to label their aesthetic as eclectic, and by inviting Rachael of Lace & Likes, as well as their talented friends, to be a part of their special day, the beautiful setting created was truly built with love. K + B share more about that and, below, enjoy the gorgeous images shared with us by Studio Castillero!
As a musician, Ben created the party by incorporating friends’ different musical skills – a string band, a reggae/rock steady DJ, and a soul DJ spinning original 45 vinyl to keep people grooving into the night. With Ben’s additional artistic touch in making the folk-style paper goods, a pastry chef friend who baked the desserts, and a neighbor who roasts our favorite coffee in his basement for our favors, the celebration was truly a labor of Seattle love. It was so incredible to see our varied ideas and details come to life in a cohesive, personal way for our wedding!
Now that’s a majorly gorgeous bouquet, and Siren Floral Co. is to thank for it!
Kit wore a dreamy dress by Sarah Seven + Ben was killing it in Topman.
Processional: Bridesmaids: Arioso – Bach; Bride: Canon in D – Pachelbel
Recessional: Le Rejouissance – Handel
First Dance: The Smile on Your Face – Little Ann
Coffee favors are always a good idea!
We just love this eclectic reception setting – the barrel room of Westland Distillery in Seattle.
Kit: Our first dance felt so full of love – unrehearsed, natural, and fun, just like we do together at home. At the end of the song, Ben picked me up and spun me around in a surreal moment of happiness that I will never forget.
Ben: I really enjoyed the post-ceremony/pre-reception time - walking down the church steps as the wind took Kit’s veil to the sky was amazing. Then we hopped in my cousin’s old Willys Jeep and rolled down the road with Hank Williams on the stereo, hugging, kissing, sipping whiskey and thinking, “We did it!”
If you are designing your wedding together, choose things that you each enjoy (e.g., painting table numbers versus choosing ceremony readings) and split up jobs accordingly to keep both partners involved and planning time equal(ish) between you both. Then, forget ALL about the planning day-of and get lost in the fun!

I love this couple’s fun vibe, and how they took it with them into a more formal ceremony space. Also swooning over the burgundy bridesmaid gowns!! Stunning!
