By photos alone, you’d never guess that today’s wedding took place in Los Angeles! Amy + Josiah were inspired by their travels to Eastern Europe and sought to create that sort of environment in LA (they’re also convinced that they were nomadic travelers + vagabond tinkerers in a past life). So instead of running off to Eastern Europe, they brought those otherworldly, yet intimate + familiar feelings to the Paramour Mansion in Los Angeles. As Amy is a designer and creates retail concepts for global fashion houses, and Josiah is an editor for television, they both have a keen eye for details.
Event designer + planner, Kristeen LaBrot, transformed the Paramour Mansion with deep shades of magenta + purple, along with beaded piano shawls, crystal balls and an abundance of candles. They had an unplugged ceremony, followed by charcuterie by the pool — all accompanied by Eastern European according melodies. Guests were invited to enjoy the Scotch Bar, street kabobs + a tambourine exit!

Our Favorite Memory
Our officiant was so wise in not sharing the details of the ceremony with us before the big day. She wanted it to be fresh and assured us this would help us be present in the moment. I woke up that day so excited to hear what she was going to say and really enjoyed watching it all unfold. Nancy is such a gem and really helped transform what I thought my least favorite part of our celebration would be into one of my most cherished moments. The hora was also absolutely transcendent and I'm so glad we danced it!

Our Advice
Our planner gave us advice early on that helped us avoid conflict. She told us that if we felt comfortable, we should ask the key players in our life what was the most important thing for them in regards to the wedding. They all of course said for us to be happy + then went on to describe their “thing” with weddings... Whether it was the cake, or the music, we found what was meaningful to them and how to include them in the process. Additionally, invest in photography. After the guests have gone and the flowers have wilted, aside from your memories, the photos are all that will be left.
