Happy Tuesday, friends! We hope you all enjoyed a long + relaxing Memorial Day weekend! We’re excited to be back with another gorgeous feature-filled week, starting with today’s wedding at The Unique Space in Downtown Los Angeles, which was the perfect venue for Sharon + Joe since they both work in the arts industry. When you choose the right space for hosting your big day, you’re already 5 steps ahead of the game, and we love how The Unique Space really showcased who S + J are as a couple. From their killer attire (just take one look at Sharon’s amazing Carolina Herrera dress!) to the minimal-modern vibe of their decor, we just love how this gorgeous day turned out and Sharon is sharing more details for us below!
Sharon shares, Joe and I met in design school, and as a couple, we always looked up to Charles and Ray Eames. There are tons of power couples out there, but we always felt a connection with them as designers with roots in Michigan, in California. But we didn’t want our wedding to just be about design. We wanted our wedding to be a celebration of our two crazy families coming together. So we decided on a cocktail style party with no assigned seating. Because on the outside looking in, our families couldn’t look more different. But on that day, our families couldn’t look more the same.
Thanks so much to Amanda VanVels Photography for sending this beautiful wedding our way!
We really just can’t get enough of this amazing dress, which Sharon paired with equally amazing heels from ASOS!
And love, love, love Sharon’s textural, tropical bouquet by Janet Chang of RS Flower Shop. So gorge!
Halley Campbell of Wink helped S + J coordinate all the details – big + small – once the big day rolled around. The end result was such a beautifully executed modern affair!
Processional: The Moon Song – Karen O and Ezra Koenig
Recessional: Building All is Love – Where the Wild Things Are Soundtrack
First Dance: My Morning Jacket - Wonderful
There are so many, but the standouts include: Aunt Dor cutting a rug in her purple “dancing socks.” Yelling out to everyone from the roof during our photo session right after the ceremony. And seeing them yell back at us. And finally, stuffing our faces and dancing at a late night grub sesh at Wurstküche with our beloved wedding party.
The best advice we heard was from Joe’s brother, “Don’t stress over napkins with your name on it.” He was joking, but as designers we can get very detail oriented, and it was a good reminder of the big picture, WE ARE GETTING MARRIED.
