DIY San Luis Obispo Ranch Wedding: Aileen + Adam

La Cuesta Ranch wedding

Who’s in the mood for a gorgeous ranch wedding to start off the week? We are + we thought you all might be, too! Luckily, we have the perfect wedding to share that’s sure to fulfill our rustic-loving state of mind. As soon as we laid eyes on Aileen + Adam’s amazing DIY central coast celebration, we knew it would be a total crowd pleaser. With vibrant florals by Lori Boe Floral Design, super sweet + thoughtful personal touches scattered throughout, and that oh-so noteworthy golden California sun, there’s just so much to love + be inspired by. Let’s get a bit of the wedding background story from Aileen:

We are both originally from the rural east coast, with family in both Connecticut and North Carolina. The outdoor/ranch style wedding really reminded us of where we grew up. Living in Southern California, and far away from our families, it was very important for us to find a venue that felt like home. Also, we wanted everyone flying out for our wedding to get the full experience of California. We also wanted to DIY as much as possible for our wedding from the seating chart, signs, cornhole set, to the all the groom and groomsmen’s bow ties. My family even came out a week early to help put all the finishing touches on all of the signs and our moms even baked special desserts for the wedding. Some of the best memories we have before the wedding are having 7 people in our little apartment painting, sewing, baking and stenciling into the early morning hours. But finally seeing it all come together on that day made it well worth all of the time and effort we put in.

Thanks so much to Priscila Valentina for the super gorgeous images and love + high fives to the happy couple!

The super creative ceremony arch was a nod to Adam’s career as a filmmaker. So fun, right?!

Such a sweet ceremony idea: Aileen + Adam wrote down their vows to one another, but saved them to open up years from now, hammering them shut in a vintage wooden box.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The most memorable moment of the day for both of us was when we were finally able to sit down and look out over all of our family and friends. Seeing everyone from different moments in our lives, from all over the world, all come together to share in the experience of our special day was an incredible moment that we will never forget.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Remember to stop and take in the little moments in the day. It is really easy to get caught up in taking photos, saying hi to everyone and being rushed around. So when you are both sitting at your table at the reception take a moment to look out at all of your family and friends and just take it all in.
