Does anything bring couples together as closely as the power of music? Mike and Chelsea met on Tinder back in 2017. Their flirty night was filled with cocktails, laughs, and ended with dancing to Vulfpeck…separately! Yup, the couples’ connection was so strong that they had an entire virtual date before even meeting. It didn’t take long after that to formally meet in person at a local dive bar, and the rest was history.
When it came to planning their wedding, heavily integrating their love and respect for music was a no-brainer. The only catch is, their styles don’t quite match! Chelsea fancies herself a bright, colorful, and glittery person while Mike is all about the all-black aesthetic. Opposites really do attract! The two went crazy on Pinterest, thinking of all the different ways they could match each other’s polar opposite looks. And boy, did it work! The two chose to be married at New Orleans’ iconic Music Box Village (the only appropriate location for such a music-loving pair!) and got to work on the rest. Sharime Kayla was the florist behind Chelsea’s fantastical flowers, while the day’s photos were captured by Hannah Pickle. Okay, okay, we won’t leave you in suspense any more! Here’s Chelse and Mike’s ah-mazing disco rock n’ roll wedding!
Record of Our Love

Chelsea was all about the color! Not only were her florals in beautiful pastel shades, but they were tied together with a little something blue.

News flash: You don’t have to have your first look at your wedding venue. It can be wherever you want it to be! For Chelsea and Mike, the choice was clear. A record store was the perfect fit. Speaking of perfect fits, let’s talk about Chelsea’s dress!
The bride wore the jaw-dropping “Vegas” gown by Alex Mearing. The sequins couldn’t be more fitting for this fun-loving and creative wedding!

Mike was cool as a cucumber in his laid-back groom’s outfit. His turquoise ring adds the perfect subtle pop of color!

Let’s throw it back to the couple’s engagement story! In the summer of 2020, Mike had hinted about an upcoming proposal sometime within the year. Little did Chelsea know, he was going to wait until the very last day to do it! The two were out celebrating New Year’s Eve and were dancing to a live show by The Avett Brothers. Next thing you know, Mike popped the question!

Mike’s response [to Chelsea saying yes] was “OFF TO NEW ORLEANS!” even though he’d never been. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.

Color and Light

Let’s move things outside ahead of the ceremony! Mike and Chelsea looked impossibly cool posing along this graffiti backdrop.

Chelsea was absolutely glowing all day long!

It was all black for the boys (and one cutie in peach!).

Have you ever seen a cooler-looking wedding party?! Didn’t think so!
A Musical Ceremony

With a venue as eclectic as this, not much extra decor is needed! Each “house” of the village encourages fresh and innovative ways to create music, right in your own little box.

Get ready to keep seeing disco decor, because it’s here to stay! The fun and funky statement pieces are the perfect way to amp up your wedding – even the ceremony.

The bride couldn’t be more excited as she walked down the aisle to her future husband. Plus, who doesn’t love a spotlight?!

Congratulations to the newlyweds!

This probably sounds cliche if you've been reading wedding blogs for a minute, but don't listen to anyone else except yourself and your partner! Together you will come up with the perfect wedding that is perfect for you. Figure out what is important to you and showcase who you are as a couple and as individuals as authentically as you can. If you do that, your family and friends will have the best time ever.

It wouldn’t be a party in New Orleans without a second line! Grab a parasol and get ready to parade your way over to the reception.

Fresh fruits as decor are the newest wedding trend we’re so happy about. Nothing beats the beauty and timelessness of nature itself.

Rustic wooden chairs were the ideal choice for this outdoor venue. The reception tables were lined with the sweetest bite-sized floral arrangements.

Congratulations to Chelsea and Mike on your fantastical wedding! We wish you endless years of love, laughter, and a whole lot of music.
