You might already know this… but we’re pretty big foodies at GWS — so, when we saw this foodie heaven wedding inspiration come in, we immediately started drooling! There’s no better way to celebrate your big day than to treat your guests to a laid-back + luxe culinary feast of your dreams (and theirs too), right? Well today, we’re turning up the heat and infusing your love of yummy food into every aspect of wedding planning.
Food was at the core of all the details and design. With its power to unify family, friends, and people of all backgrounds, it only makes sense for it to serve as the central theme! Tassika of Bashology shares: The goal with styled shoot was to stir things up a little bit, turn up the heat, and whip up the unexpected! To turn up the heat, we dialed in on intimacy, and created a cozy atmosphere… almost as if it were a chic dinner party! When whipping up the unexpected, we crafted a major centerpiece food display with a pinch of function and a serious spoonful of “wow.” Sound enticing? Just wait until you see how they transformed Studio 52 into an intimate + cozy space in the photos snapped by Jessica Millete!
With a pinch of this and a dash of that, here’s how you can turn your day into a foodie heaven:
Make an Aromatic Statement with the Backdrop
For the backdrop + ceremony, make a stylish/aromatic statement! Include herbs and berries into your ceremony where floral or greenery is used. Above, is a modern greenery + herb tapestry and that’s definitely a look we could get behind! These lovelies were a fab collaboration between Bashology and Cedar and Lime Collective, utilizing basil to add a pop of color and freshness!
Simplicity is Key
When it comes to outfits, simplicity is key. Wear something you feel comfortable in and love, while letting the food set the overall feeling and style. Bonus points if your outfits complement the colors for the tablescape — which is exactly what stylist Memkoh did for this editorial!
Create a Cozy Atmosphere
Whip up the ultimate guest list for a decadent feast. A true foodie wedding should feel like the ultimate dinner party with your nearest and dearest. Consider a smaller guest list to create an intimate and relaxed atmosphere with a focus on your nuptials and all of the deliciousness!
Individual Menu Cards
Rachel Jones provided the hand-painted and hand-illustrated menu cards (along with the garage window art!), and we think these individual menu cards are a seriously sweet touch to place at each seat!
Crafting the Perfect Menu
Craft an unforgettable evening that permeates all the senses. Curate a non-fussy and mouthwatering menu that represents your foodie mood. Consider complementary flavors, contrasting textures and pops of color when working on the cocktail hour and dinner menu, as well as drink selections. P.S. How darling are those calligraphy place cards + bride and groom ghost chairs? That’s the handiwork of the lovely Sarah McQuaid!
Classic Comfort Foods with a Twist
Who doesn’t love a good classic comfort food? Better yet, you can put your own personal flair by adding a little twist. Get inspired by the comfort-chic menu crafted by GetPlated Catering. We suggest putting together a menu of your favorite dishes using regional ingredients and cooking techniques.
Serve it Family Style
Skip the formalities for dinner and go with a family-style table and serving method. With family-style, no one has to choose between the sea bass or the steak. They can have both, and the chicken, too! Plus, the passing of the plates gives a kindred vibe perfect for starting conversation!
Be Playful with the Design
Design a jaw-dropping and drool-worthy tablescape while infusing your own personal style. Create a beautiful tablescape with culinary flair. If tasty treats are your thing, show it by artfully plating the meal in the center of the table. We seriously dig the interlocking wood display Bashology created!
Nothing fancy, just love. Simple, sweet, and totally refined!
A huge thank you Bashology for sending this over + the talented team involved! A last note from Tassika: We hope you enjoy the fruits of our labor! Don’t worry, if you start drooling or have to go to lunch immediately after browsing through our shoot… we won’t judge! ;)
