If you’re considering an elopement, you’re probably already thinking a bit untraditionally. An elopement really celebrates the two of you + allows you to tie the knot in a unique location that you may not have been able to otherwise. We love that today’s styled shoot takes the concept of an untraditional elopement to the next level! Because not only is the location pretty epic – Salvation Mountain for those of you who didn’t recognize it from our intro image – but the whole editorial is styled with vibrant details + fun elements that give the setting itself a run for its money! From the colorful props to the fun signage to the seriously beautiful bright bouquet, we’re totally digging this shoot + hope you will too!
From the photographer + stylist, Candice Benjamin, The theme of the shoot was “Find a Beautiful Place & Get Lost (& elope!)”…and we sure found a beautiful place to get lost. Our inspiration came directly from Salvation Mountain, a God loving, colorful oasis in the middle of nowhere. We used bright colors, an untraditional floral crown made of twigs and spray painted flowers, a light pink rented dress and thrifted/found accessories. Even the bouquet had a mix of painted succulents and air plants worked in to nod to the thousands of gallons of paint used on the mountain. To keep with the adventure aspect of the shoot, we only used items that anyone could find and fit in the trunk of their car.
That bouquet, by Pixies Petals, is pretty incredible, don’t you think? And if you’re going big, with a color-filled celebration, why not also rock a headband crafted from equally bright blooms?!
This sweet little alter would be easy to recreate with a bright accent table + punchy, glossy candlesticks.
How many of you have been to Salvation Mountain? We love it so!
The perfect spot to share an intimate, post-elopement meal with your love!
If that didn’t brighten up your Friday morning, nothing will! Big thanks to the very talented team below for inspiring us with this colorful elopement inspiration today!
