Brittany + Willem’s gorgeous fall wedding was chock full of crisp + classic details that we’re pretty sure you’re going to love. Brittany worked closely with Jamie from Sitting in a Tree to fill the private estate setting with stylish elements + a beautiful berry, black, navy + gold palette that was just right for the autumnal season.
Fellow floral lovers, we’re sure you’ll agree that Bloem Creative did such an incredible job when it came to the floral design. Dahlias, garden roses, ranunculus, eucalyptus and seasonal foliage graced the tablescapes, ceremony backdrop + Britt’s bouquet. And calligraphed pomegranates, penned by Type and Title, acting as place cards gave a fun nod to B + W’s mid-October wedding date.
So, let’s not waste any more time and check out the end result in the lovely captures below by Studio 1208!
Brittany looked as lovely as can be in Jenny Packham’s Esme Gown.
Willem: For me it was the ceremony. It was the culmination of our 9 year relationship and months and months of planning for this one moment. There was so much energy and buzz in air as guests took their seats and we walked down the isle. It was a very surreal experience. Standing up there with all of our family and friends looking on as we performed our vows, I could feel the love and support. Our officiant and very close family friend made the ceremony so perfectly personal and heartfelt - while we were very much concentrated on each other I could feel each emotional reaction our guests had throughout the ceremony. That was the calm before the storm of the rest of the night – which turned into one raging dance party! #turndownforwhat
Brittany: My father-daughter dance was definitely a moment I will never forget. We took dance lessons and all of that training kind of went out the window in the moment. We just danced and sang Jimmy Buffet lyrics to each other. It was such a sweet part of the evening Another favorite would have to be the birthday surprise I planned for Willem - he was turning 30 just 2 weeks after the wedding so I figured we had to do something special since we had all of our friends and family there with us. The surprise included a song and dance (to Katy Perry’s “Birthday,”) a birthday cake topped with massive sparklers, gold balloons, funny masks of Willem’s many faces, and a gold streamer cannon! Everyone loved it!
We both have groups of really close friends but opted to do a pre-ceremony “friends cocktail hour” in lieu of a traditional bridal party. The ceremony location was quite intimate and wouldn’t fit 8-10 bridesmaids & groomsmen comfortably, plus we wanted them to be able to enjoy the day with their dates as much as possible. It was one way that we really tailored our day to us, and how we wanted to spend it. We got to spend time with each of them, have a cocktail, and take some memorable photos…it was perfect!
We’re seriously loving these fall-filled tablescapes! Their florals, place settings + crisp, classic feel couldn’t have been better.
Processional: Family: Into the Mystic – Van Morrison; Bride: Heavenly Day – Patty Griffin
Recessional: Wouldn’t It Be Nice – Beach Boy’s
First Dance: Is This Love – Corinne Bailey Rae
Start a spreadsheet for your invited guests and use that to track everything! This will include columns for name, address, Rsvp’d # of guests, Gifts, Thank you Card sent, Table Number, Entrée selection, and anything else you can think of. If you keep everything in one place it makes life so much easier! I used a spreadsheet for tracking my thank you cards to be sure everyone got a personal note. It also makes life a lot easier if you are using a calligrapher or trying to do your seating chart.
Maria at Studio 1208 took us aside the day before and really emphasized the importance of staying present in the day. It can all be a bit of sensory overload with everything going on. We really tried to stick together throughout the evening and try to see and experience the same things. That’s our other bit of advice, stick together!
