After Renee + Jeff got engaged in Tulum, Mexico (on a vintage couch in the garden of Hotel La Semilla, no less!) and they wanted to give a nod to a place that was so special to them. Focusing on romance, Mexican-inspired details, a garden full of bohemian touches, and a neutral color palette with a few bright pops, Amorology brought their vision for their wedding to fruition, in the most elegant way.
Renee shares: We knew right away that we wanted to incorporate the romantic Tulum vibe into our wedding, and we were also set on having an outdoor location. After searching high and low in my hometown of San Diego we ultimately chose the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas as our wedding venue. I have so many childhood memories of wandering through the trails there with my family, and it didn’t even pop into my head until the end of our search that it was absolutely perfect. My brother even went in to the garden for a site visit and recorded a video of the tour so we could see exactly what it was like, as we were still living in NYC at the time.
Let’s see how they brought a taste of Tulum to the botanical gardens, in the snaps by Jessica Kettle!
The Florals
With a color palette of neutrals of latte, bone, beige and creams with gold accents — the florals served as the major pop of color! The Dainty Lion played up the pink and peach hues with an array of dahlias, ranunculus, anemones, and more!
Positively STUNNING.
Hello handsome(s)!! The guys all donned navy blue tuxes, bringing in that elegance factor.
The Ceremony Space
Framed by bougainvillea, cactus, and seashells — the ceremony space was elegant with a whole lot of beachy bohemian goodness!
Guests were asked “to leave an impression” with a pressed flower in a leather book for the couple to hold on to as a memory. How sweet is that?!
Processional: Nine Summertime by Cut Copy
Recessional: Heart on Fire by Cut Copy
First Dance: La Vie En Rose by Louis Armstrong
Totally Tulum! The two were wed under an arch of hanging seashell chandeliers.
The most memorable moment of our wedding day was having a bit of time to ourselves while cocktail hour was in progress, after our photos were taken. Just some time with only each other to take it all in. Your wedding day goes by so quickly, and looking back I truly cherish those moments we had. Unforgettable moment number two was boarding a double decker bus that took our entire wedding to Shelter in Encinitas for our after party. That was definitely wild!
The Reception Lounge
Can we have this in our backyards? A gorgeous boho-inspired lounge served as the hang out spot for cocktail hour.
The Escort Cards
Following the cocktail hour, guests found their names among terra cotta tiles, with calligraphy done by Betlem Calligraphy. Isn’t this genius?!
The Tablescape
A patterned cutout table runner, little pops of magenta, and golden goblets… This tablescape is a DREAM!
Love, love, love!! All those rustic chairs + the luxe goblets.
Delicious food and good music go a long way! We still have friends and family commenting on the incredible family style dinner they devoured at our wedding provided by MIHO Catering Co., as well as the musical experience provided by Dart DJ. Find vendors you love, food that you adore, and stick with it!
The Desserts
Serious YUM!! Simplicity was key for VG Donut & Bakery when crafting this stunner of a cake. We adore how it’s adorned in flowers and allows all the other details to speak for themselves. So, so pretty!
Congratulations, R+J!!
