Stephanie + Sean both work in theater, so wedding planning wasn’t a stretch—they’re no strangers to bringing beautiful ideas to life. The couple lives in NYC but decided to tie the knot in Atlanta, Georgia, and while they were planning the main objective was to create an event that felt warm and welcoming to their guests. With the help of Smooth As Butter Weddings & Events Stephanie + Sean filled industrial-style venue The Westside Warehouse with moody, romantic colors and lots of thoughtful details for their loved ones to enjoy. (Bride + groom trivia bingo on the back of the menus?! SO cute.)
A major star of this show was Stephanie’s gorgeous embroidered gown by Rue de Seine. We are SO in love with this intricate dress and all of its deep reds, purples, and maroons.
Photographer Savanna Sturkie got some incredible shots of this beautiful day. “Stephanie and Sean are just deeply, truly in love with one another,” Savanna says, “and that’s something that is completely evident in the photographs.”
About this DRESS 😍 Stephanie’s a costume designer, so she’s obviously got a keen eye. She found this mauve, blush, maroon masterpiece by Rue de Seine on a dress hunting trip to Atlanta bridal boutique Kelly’s Closet. Even more beautiful than the dress itself is the story of how Stephanie chose it.
“I never found the tradition of a “white dress” to be something that I personally needed,” Stephanie says. “However I wanted to go through the process of trying on dresses, and so I went with my mom, sister, and 98 year old grandmother while she was still alive to a boutique around the corner from my sister’s house. After trying on a series of perfectly lovely white dresses, I spied my Rue de Seine and tried it on as a whim… and immediately felt like Ariel in The Little Mermaid.
After we finished the fitting, my grandmother approached me and said that I needed the red and purple dress, and she was insistent on buying it for me (SO kind). Unfortunately, she passed away before the wedding, which made wearing the dress that much more special.”
Stephanie + Sean started their day by getting ready at Hotel Clermont. How adorable is that marquee!!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding From Stephanie: It’s a combination of a few things — seeing 10-15 people lying on the ground during "Shout!" because it was a room of theater people, the amount of family and friends who were ROCKING OUT during "Don’t Stop Believing," and just being so blown away by Sean’s wonderful vows.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now HAVE FUN and don’t expect it to be a perfect day! Things might go wrong at any second, and perspective and flexibility will make it possible for you to have a great time regardless!!
Also, HIGHLY RECOMMEND cardboard cutouts of your dog / animal on sticks so people can dance with them or use them as Photo Booth props!
How fun that Stephanie got to rock a totally different vibe in this stunning dress by removing the long sleeved jacket for the reception!
