Kayla, otherwise known as the bohemian-inspired fashion blogger behind A Little Paper Doll, and her darling beau, Brennan, wanted to go the non-traditional route for their wedding. Their adoration of NYC (where they actually first fell in love) informed their venue decision… and as Brennan is a film photographer, they definitely had an idea of the vibe + aesthetic they were going for.
Kayla shares: We fell in love and moved in together while living in NYC, so we returned to NYC to make our love official by secretly eloping! Despite living very public lives via social media, we did not tell anyone about our plans to elope… The only person who knew was our photographer! We wanted to make it as small and intimate a possible.
From a ride in an old-fashioned taxi cab, to after vows coffee, and an intimate brunch at a French bakery in Brooklyn — let’s follow all in the fun in the photos snapped by Nicole Miller!
We hope to inspire others to consider a similar wedding experience… We did not have to worry about caterers, decorations, or making other people happy on our day! We were able to really live in the moment and be with each other every step of the way!
About the City
To start off the day, these two romped around the city in an adorable vintage taxi cab.
How cute are these too?! Since they got ready together, this allowed them a lot of freedom when it came to the timeline of the day.
The Courthouse Ceremony
Being a fashion blogger, it was difficult for me to decide on one dress! I ended up choosing two dresses, both from Island Tribe. My ceremony dress was fitted and chic, featuring Stevie Nicks-inspired fringe, perfect for downtown city vibes! My reception dress was a little more playful, with a flowing skirt and bell sleeves.
The Newlyweds
Just MARRIED! Dancing around the city in a gorgeous fringe dress… doesn’t get better than that, does it?
Following their vows, these two stopped at Ludlow Coffee Supply on the Lower East Side for a little coffee date near their hotel.
Their Intimate Brunch Reception
The reception venue was a sweet little French bakery: Maman in Greenpoint Brooklyn.
K+B share: It was one of our favorite brunch spots to visit while we were dating! The bakery itself is so beautiful, that we did not have to worry about decorating or setting up beforehand.
Hortense, the Event Director at Maman, worked with FlowerGirl NYC to take care of creating an incredible brunch table for us. Everything was perfectly set up for us when we arrived, taking any and all stress away from us on our day!
An Evening in Central Park
The entire day was zero stress and felt like a dream! Following our brunch, we were able to take a walk through Central Park, having our first dance to a solo violin in Strawberry Fields (John Lennon’s memorial).
Brennan donned a navy suit with velvet trim and a floral tie from ASOS — reflecting the boho vibes of Kayla’s gown.
I love how we were able to write our own story and keep it a secret, so we did not have to be influenced by so many opinions! We were really able to focus on each other and spend time with those that mean the most to us on our special day!
It’s ALL about making it about you + your love — doing things YOUR way.
Congratulations, K+B!!
