Have you ever heard of Sir Edward Burne-Jones? He was an English artist in late 1800s, and very closely associated with the Pre-Raphaelites. He was deeply moved by poems of his contemporaries, which inspired many of his paintings—including The Legend of Briar Rose, which depicts moments from the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. His work featured tons of texture and brilliant color palettes and was so striking that Splendid Events + photographer Sotiris Tsakanikas knew they had to create something from it!
Melanie at Splendid Events tells us: To stage our editorial, we chose a private estate in delightful Delikipos, a sixteenth-century village near Larnaka, Cyprus, steeped in post-Medieval beauty and local lore. Our wish was to blend elements from the artist’s paintings to recreate a dazzling vision, the ethereal form of a gown, the distinctive, sometimes jewel-like color in the blaze of gold in the tapestry and tablescape.

The Gown Straight From a Fairy Tale
Holy smokes, that Alessandra Rinaudo gown from Gala Montenapoleone! We’re big fans of the illusion lace and all the dainty floral designs. How dreamy is this?
Nelli, the hair and makeup artist, crafted loose locks for the bride to achieve the ultimate princess style. To polish the look, they added a leafy gold hairpiece by Alessandra Avallone.
It Was All About Dusty Rose + Blue Hues for the Tablescape
From the rustic chairs to the dusty rose tablecloth to all those blue candles and the luxe settings…we aren’t sure what we love the most!
The tablescape ran between two beautiful olive trees, and the team styled it as an ‘S’ (for Sleeping Beauty—so clever!). The table was replete with pieces form Mint Event Finds: vintage candlesticks, luxe gold-rimmed dinner plates, black and white porcelain dishes, and rustic tapestry napkins.
For the florals, it was all about creating something whimsical and wild, while keeping the colors in those gorgeous blush and blue hues. Splendid Events played with anemones, vanda orchids, ranunculus, garden roses, clematis and anigozanthos for these darling displays.
Once upon a dream…
