This Wedding at a Blueberry Farm in Michigan Had Midwestern Summer Nostalgia Written All Over It

Neutral Bridesmaid Dresses

Many of the greatest love stories develop from a chance encounter. One day, you’re living your day-to-day life and the next, you’re madly in love with someone who was once a complete stranger! Danny and Jacquelyn’s love story began just like this when they first met at a music festival. Fast forward a few years, and they decided to pay homage to their relationship’s origin with a festival-themed wedding at The Fields of Michigan.

Having both grown up in Chicago, Jacquelyn and Danny really value the summertime memories they created as children. Things like days out on the lake, evening bonfires with friends, and camping all made for a beautiful, nostalgic feeling that they wanted to incorporate into their wedding. With a glamping-themed blueberry farm for a wedding venue, they were already halfway there! The rest of the wedding was adorned with pastel-colored flowers by Studio Terrain, fresh farm-to-table food, whimsical signage, and great music to dance the night away. Photography by Kaley From Kansas captured every beautiful, everlasting memory for the happy couple. Coordination by Stella Luna Events assured that the couple would have a seamless, joyous wedding day!

Not only was the blueberry farm a beautiful place to witness a wedding – it was also interactive for guests!

Guests entered our wedding through blueberry vines, picking fresh berries as they walked past glamping tents to find a seat under the trees for our ceremony in the woods.

The wedding party was treated to spending the night in luxurious glamping tents on the farm’s property. Such a dream come true!

I found my Alexandra Grecco dress at Lovely Bridal in Miami. I have truly never been so in love with a garment. The dress caught the light like magic– bright white in some moments and then a glowy warm peachy color in other moments. The champagne ombre overlay and floral details are soft and ethereal. It all complimented the dreamy vibe of our day and I felt totally natural and comfortable to dance the night away. Fun fact – I bought and then returned a different dress before finding this gem in Miami!

Neutral Bridesmaid Dresses

Jacquelyn’s bridal party looked stellar in their neutral-toned bridesmaid dresses. The end result was flowy, natural, and perfectly sophisticated.

Jacquelyn’s father couldn’t help but get emotional at the sight of his beautiful daughter on her wedding day. This is sure to be a moment they’ll never forget!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Make your ceremony YOURS. Make it about honoring the love you have with your partner. We had two family members come up and do readings from two of our favorite books. One was a passage from Untamed by Glennon Doyle. Also, I feel like everyone does a first look and wedding party pictures before the ceremony to "get the photos out of the way," but we opted out of a first look and did all our wedding party photos right after we got married. You can just see in our faces how excited we all were. We made it into a moment, popping champagne around an old pick-up truck that we drove off in right after the ceremony. Our photographer captured all the emotion in that moment and I love the candid feel in those photos so much!

Being that Jacquelyn is an arts & culture writer, it’s no surprise that she’s a fan of creative, outdoorsy events! Danny took this greatly into consideration when deciding how to propose to his future wife. So much so that he proposed at The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta!

The wedding reception was a similar, but quite unique vibe to the ceremony! Long, family-style tables were complemented with wooden wishbone chairs and hanging boho floral installations.

Patterned rugs underneath each table gave the room a rustic aesthetic that made this wedding feel comforting and cool to all attendees.

Guests were treated to an immaculate (locally sourced!) farm-to-table dining experience. For the entertainment, New Orleans-based band Handmade Moment played. This was truly a sentimental moment, as Jacquelyn had met the band in Argentina years earlier!

As a heartfelt gift to the couple, Jacquelyn’s mother designed and created the “Sweet Love” dessert table. This gift is better than catering could ever be!

The couple ended the night sipping piña coladas in the bed of this fun, old pickup truck under the glow of a new moon. Now that is how you end a wedding. Congratulations, Danny & Jacquelyn!
