Would you wear a black and white wedding dress on wedding day? This bold bride did and she absolutely ROCKED it!! Rachel, a floral designer, and her now husband, Adam, had dreamed of a New Years Eve style wedding with disco balls, sparkles and glamorous details. However, due to Covid, they had to shift their vision, but they didn’t let it dull their shimmer. Fawn Events helped the couple transform Domaine Chardonnay into a modern, boho space full of eclectic florals, custom terrazzo signage, disco balls in all shapes and sizes, and a magical open-air tent of fairy lights.
I had always had my heart set on a ‘New Years’ wedding’ filled with disco balls galore, guests in sparkly attire, and dancing into the wee hours of the night. Well, we initially planned for that… but like so many know, Covid happened so our plans shifted! If this past year has taught us anything, it is to be flexible and enjoy the ride as much as we can. So we downsized to 30 guests, kept our *sparkly* vision, and just spiced it up a bit! Disco-terrazzo, with colors ranging from neutrals to dusty pink and peach with pops of toffee and black, and a touch of dusty blue for a little funk!
Brogen Jessup was there to capture all of the magic. Ready to see more? Let’s go!
Terrazzo Meets Disco Balls
R describes these Velvet Fox Designs wedding invitations as totally setting the tone for the day. We can see why! Their theme of disco balls and terrazzo shines here!
A Black and White Wedding Dress
Hello bold drama! This black and white wedding dress from Rue de Seine via Dress Theory San Diego is the perfect gown for a bride looking to shake things up down the aisle. R paired it with strappy Free People shoes and we’re loving it! She shares:
Having gone to so many weddings I knew I wanted something a little different, yet still bridal. The Rue De Seine Hayden gown I found was an instant YES. I love that it was black but still gave a wink to traditional white bridal. Adam’s favorite color is black so it was a no-brainer.

R’s bridal beauty look is all thanks to Hair by Kayti and Beauty by Nat. We love the braids! See more of our favorite bridal hairstyles here!
A was looking sharp in an all black Friar Tux ensemble. Giving us modern Johnny Cash vibes!
Bridesmaids in Sequins + Sparkles
Here comes R’s sparkle vision! Her bridesmaids wore sequin mini dresses from Show Me Your Mumu and Retro Fete. Totally fits with the disco theme!
Floral Filled Ceremony Backdrop
Wow. Speechless!
Since R is the owner and lead designer of Joy of Bloom Florals you’d expect her own wedding flowers to be stunning! She did NOT disappoint!
Obviously, flowers were an absolute highlight. I got to pull all the gorgeous seasonal options that really shine in spring. Sweet peas, spirea, ranunculus, garden roses, butterfly ranunculus, tulips, charlotte ranunculus, Icelandic poppies, etc. – as well as some funky options like sago palms, blue and peach dyed Phalaenopsis Orchids, pink pampas, cognac and peach anthurium, and all the bleached/painted palms. Where we didn’t have floral we had disco balls!
A couple of wedding highlights were getting to share a dance with my father and have him walk me down the aisle. He is 80 and typically uses a walker but he practiced for weeks ahead of time to get to walk me down the aisle with no walker. We danced to wonderful tonight by Eric Clapton, a favorite of ours. This is a moment I will always cherish.
Let’s get the party started!!
How to Rock a Black and White Wedding Dress
Our wedding was honestly the best day. Brides, all the madness you are going through is gonna be so worth it when your day comes!
A Terrazzo Disco Wedding Reception
R + A created these custom terrazzo wedding signs to display their escort card disco ball tumblers! So fun!! Who wouldn’t want to take one of these home?!
Laid-back, backyard vibes and we’re here for it!
How to Do Charcuterie, Covid-style
Charcuterie Mama created individual charcuterie cones and Mediterranean-style snack boxes for guests to snack on during cocktail hour. Such a fun and yummy idea!
Adore Folklore provided the most gorgeous lounges and furniture that completely elevated the spaces including dozens of disco balls hanging overhead. Fawn Events designed our tables to be effortless yet bold with stunning rentals from Catalog Atelier consisting of neutral stoneware, black glassware, & silver accents. Each table was slightly different which added a fun element to the guest experience. The cherry on top – an unreal twinkle light canopy that Brilliant Event Lighting created over our dining space.
Aren’t these terrazzo dinner plates the cutest?? To make the night even more adorable, guests dined on In N Out burgers- R + A’s favorite place! (we totally agree!)
Seriously… these trendy sunset colors are everything right now!
Catalog Atelier provided all of the tabletop rentals while BBJ Linen provided linens. We love the clean, modern look of the tablescapes!
R + A made these custom disco ball sweatshirts to warm guests on the chilly evening. These were a major hit and guests are still wearing them!!
So many unique and creative ideas for modern, boho lovers! Congratulations Rachel + Adam! Your wedding day is absolutely gorgeous and we know it will inspire many other couples. The GWS team is wishing you the best!!
