Best of August: Inspiration from our Preferred Wedding Artists

Inspiration from the Green Wedding Shoes Preferred Wedding Artists

Every month we ask our Preferred Wedding Artists (affectionally known as PWAs) what they’ve been up to lately. And every month they show up with an abundance of inspiration. We just can’t help but share some of our favorites with you guys! This summer was a busy one, and we’re so excited to see all the creative work from our PWAs’ weddings + escapades begin to trickle in!

If you’re on the hunt for wedding vendors, use our “find a vendor” tool to meet some GWS-approved artists in your area. Or not—most of them are open to travel! So, if you love Mary Costa’s brilliant photography as much as we do but you’re not in the LA area, drop a note anyway! Some relationships are just meant to be—though, you probably know that by now, don’t you? :)

Here’s what we’re loving from our PWAs this month!

Chance Encounters + Dreamy Couple Style

Catalina Jean Photography

I met this stunning couple while down in Mexico shooting another wedding. We happened to be on the same boat cruise and we ended up hanging out all day (and night). Alec then reached out to me to shoot her wedding in Berkeley, CA. There is something really special about shooting the wedding of a new friend. Both Alec and Adam have serious style, from the wild bouquet featuring a huge protea, the leather jacket paired with a delicate dress, and Adam’s velvet loafers—everything was executed so beautifully. Needless to say I feel very lucky to have a random meeting lead to a new friendship with these two fabulous people.

This Romantic Wedding Teaser is Pure Magic

Film by Lovelit Films:

Allie and Adam’s wine country wedding was so classic and lovely. They were married under a huge oak tree surrounded by vineyards—and wild turkeys! Then they danced night under the night sky, surrounded by all the people who love them most. They had incredible cocktails (made in a mobile trailer) and ended it all with a sparkler exit!

A Styled Bohemian Bouquet

Bouquet by ella & louie floral studio:

A fun little elopement styled shoot from Santa Barbara with a rustic backdrop and an elegant space across from the famous courthouse. With a classic lace dress, a handsome groom and a huge bouquet of flowers: peonies, orchids and bleached bunny tail grass to add the right touch of bohemian style.

A Sweet Moment from a Relaxed Engagement Session

The Moody Romantic Photography

Photo by The Moody Romantic Photography:

This San Francisco area engagement session was incredible. The couple brought their old jeep and we took photos on windswept hills overlooking the bay. Wrapped up in a quilt, the couple cuddled as the sun set over the ocean. When the sun set, the moon reflected brightly on the bay. I loved that the couple dressed more casually (the bride in a flannel), as I don’t see many engagement sessions with casual clothing.

A Wedding Cake—but Make it Pie!

Bijou's Sweet Treats

Pies + photo by Bijou’s Sweet Treats:

We get a lot of brides who want pies but still want to have that “wedding cake” look. Normally, pies are just placed on the table and really not much fun. So we created these “tall pies” that look like a wedding cake! We even baked some small hearts and styled it with flowers, just like a normal wedding cake. This one is apple and mixed berry pies and it’s part of a dessert table filled with mini pies.

An Italian Reception Dream

Art is for Lovers— and this Fun Engagement Session

I just photographed a super fun engagement session where the couple covered each other—head to toe—with paint. The shoot was a blast and the couple had too much fun.

Pop, Fizz, Bachelorette!

Paleta Please

From Paleta Please:

We love collaborating with other vendors. A few weeks ago we collaborated with One Hope Wine to create a yummy treat, Popsicles + Champagne, for a bachelorette party! We also collaborated with Happily Ever Etched to customize the signage on our cart for the party.

Cue the Exit Music

Haute Mobile Disco

From Haute Mobile Disco:

This was a fall wedding on Wolf Feather Honey Farm complete with black candles + dark flowers dressing the tables. I shared their sultry + beautiful pre-wedding playlist which echoed through the valley on our Spotify.
