And we’re back with our second backyard wedding for the day! Arlene + Jake are a laid back couple who wanted their wedding day to be relaxed + fun. They hoped their fete would be reminiscent of a carefree garden picnic and opted to have their ceremony + reception in the backyard where Jake grew up! They kept their attire on the casual side so they could wear everything again, served their favorite foods (pizza + popsicles anyone?!) and danced the night away to original live music played by their talented musician friends.
Be sure not to miss the super fun temporary tattoo bar – such a clever idea for a backyard wedding! Thanks so much to Samm Blake (who is now based out of New York!) for the gorgeous photos.
Loving Arlene’s cute Ban.do headband!
I can’t get over the beautiful portraits Samm Blake captured of Arlene + Jake! Good photography is always a worthy investment, even if you’re on a budget.
Doesn’t the ceremony have such a sweet + intimate feel? The colorful garland adds a fun textural element to the natural backdrop.
Guests were delighted by DIY temporary tattoos provided by Tattly. Seriously, such a fun way to keep everyone entertained during your cocktail hour or reception.
Everything (including the deserts!) was made by friends of the couple. From Arlene, We have a bunch of super talented friends and wanted to include their talents and beautiful personalities in our day.
My advice for those planning a wedding now would be do what you like to do! Don't do or include things just because a bunch of people before you have done them. If it means something to you do it, if not, don't. I'm not a jewellery loving girl, so we never bothered with an engagement ring but spent the money on an amazing honeymoon instead. I love to travel. Just because everyone else is doing something doesn't mean you have to ... be true to you and have fun doing it!
